National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions Charters Aqua Blu, Launches Series of Diving Expeditions in Indonesia

#Traveltradetogether

Chartered voyages mark the brand’s return to Indonesia with two new itineraries exploring the wonders of the Coral Triangle, Spice Islands and Raja Ampat, and Komodo National Park –

National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has unveiled a new way to explore with the global leader and pioneer of modern expedition cruising with the launch of a series of chartered voyages exploring the undersea and shoreside wonders of Indonesia aboard the Aqua Blu.

Designed for exploration and cultural immersion, the 28-guest Aqua Expeditions-owned Aqua Blu features 14 individually designed suites and delivers seamless access to far-flung islands, hidden coves and legendary dive sites, all while guests enjoy world-class hospitality and expert-led discovery. The first long-range ocean explorer yacht based in East Indonesia, Aqua Blu features five decks and exceptional amenities, including intimate indoor and al fresco dining areas, an outdoor wellness area and hot tub, stylish lounge with brass and ivory decor and a tranquil spa offering Balinese treatments and aromatherapy. Aqua Blu is a water-lover’s dream, with top-of-the-line snorkelling and kayaking gear on board, plus diving offered at no extra cost for up to 10 experienced and certified divers at a time.

“Indonesia, in particular, has captured the imagination of travellers, with growing interest reflected in its inclusion on The New York Times’ 52 Places to Go list this year,” said Trey Byus,  chief expedition officer, Lindblad Expeditions. “Our guests are naturally curious and drawn to places that inspire discovery, and the addition of Aqua Blu will allow us to bring our travellers even closer to the wild beauty and rich cultural heritage of Indonesia like never before. I believe there is no better way for travellers to dive deep into the wonders Indonesia has to offer than these unforgettable itineraries.”

Indonesia’s Coral Gardens and Komodo Dragons (15 Days)

Beginning in October 2026, this expedition charts a course through Indonesia’s Coral Triangle, one of the most biodiverse marine environments. Travellers will venture into Komodo National Park to witness the world’s largest lizard in its natural habitat, dive or snorkel in the waters of Taka Bonerate National Park and explore the Banda Sea, where ancient spice trade history and rich marine life converge. Along the way, guests will have opportunities to kayak through mangrove forests, engage with local communities and deepen their understanding of conservation initiatives through expert-led discussions. Prices from £18,847pp based on 26th October 2026 departure

Indonesia’s Spice Islands and Raja Ampat (15 Days)

Sailing deep into Indonesia’s famed Spice Islands, this expedition – debuting November 2026 – blends cultural discovery with unrivalled marine exploration. Guests will snorkel and dive in Raja Ampat, home to some of the most pristine coral reefs in the world, encounter centuries-old rock art in Misool’s labyrinthine lagoons and explore historic nutmeg plantations that once shaped global trade. Visits to traditional villages, hidden jungle waterfalls and remote volcanic islands offer a comprehensive look at the rich traditions and diverse landscapes of the region. Prices from £17,397pp based on 8th November 2026 departure.

The charter of the one-of-a-kind explorer yacht marks a notable expansion of Lindblad Expeditions’ expedition cruise portfolio with the launch of the new, dive-centric programme. With the addition of Aqua Blu, Lindblad Expeditions’ fleet now consists of 22 mission-built expedition ships that it sells and operates on behalf of the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions co-brand.
