Leadership change in Mallorca’s Tourism Department: Guillem Ginard takes office

The Consell de Mallorca has appointed Guillem Ginard as the new Minister of Tourism, succeeding former minister Marcial Rodríguez, following a change in the leadership of the department on 31st December. The appointment forms part of the island government’s strategy to strengthen a tourism model based on sustainability, quality, and respect for the territory’s cultural and social values.

Guillem Ginard new Minister of Tourism Mallorca

Guillem Ginard brings extensive experience in the Balearic Islands’ public administration and has held senior positions, particularly in the field of Culture. “His background in managing and protecting cultural heritage, traditions and local identity has been a decisive factor in his appointment,” said the President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés.

The Consell de Mallorca has underlined that preserving cultural values and fostering harmonious coexistence between residents and visitors are key pillars of current tourism policy. In this context, Ginard’s appointment at the head of the Tourism Department reinforces the commitment to a model aimed at consolidating Mallorca as a sustainable, responsible destination with international recognition.

In addition to his role as Minister for Tourism, Guillem Ginard also assumes the presidency of the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca. He takes office with the goal of advancing “a tourism management approach that generates economic prosperity while ensuring the protection of the territory and the well-being of its citizens”.
