ITAA Post Conference Fam in Huelva
#TRAVELTRADETOGETHER
The 2022 ITAA conference was excellent and the follow up wasn’t half bad either! The post Fam trip is eagerly anticipated and Huelva didn’t disappoint. What a Province! It really is an undiscovered gem. We strolled around the jewel of Franciscan Monasterio de Santa Maria de la Rabida where Christopher Columbus sought assistance to intercede with Queen Isabella to finance his voyages. Luckily she did and he brought great glory to Spain. We visited replicas of his ships at Palos de la Frontera: Santa Maria, La Pinta and La Nina.
We enjoyed an incredible Sunday morning at El Rocio, one of the most holy pilgrimage sites, which could have dropped out of a Wild West Hollywood film set with its stunning Church and horses and ponies tethered in front. We had the obligatory tasting (sure you’d have to!) of the local orange wine Naranja in the modern and contemporary El Condado. We even travelled high in the mountainous region of Aracena and Picos de Aroche Nature Park to walk with the Iberian black pigs at Cortreconcepcion. Then we had the temerity to eat them. Well, not exactly the ones who snuffled at our feet…… We finally ate an exquisite 7 course lunch in the village of Linares de la Sierra. In the town of Ayamonte, a sparkling and completely local town where the real Spain is evident, we feasted in Merkajamon delicatessen. More memorable food and more memories to last a lifetime. Stunning hospitality everywhere we went. Go visit Huelva. It’s a real hidden gem. Viva Espana.
