Hole in one for Ireland as top US and Canadian golf journalists visit

Millions in US and Canada to read or hear about the island of Ireland’s world-class golf.

Millions of golfers across the United States and Canada – and potential holidaymakers for the island of Ireland – are set to read or hear about our superb golf offering, following this week’s visit by leading sports and golf journalists from the US and Canada. The journalists are here as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

The journalists have been testing their skills on some of our great courses, including Royal County Down, where this year’s Irish Open will take place in September. The itinerary also included County Louth and Seapoint, Royal Belfast and Ardglass, as well as a visit to Kirkiston Castle. Off the course, the group enjoyed a guided tour of Belfast and a visit to Titanic Belfast.

Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said: “Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market, so we were delighted to invite these leading golf journalists to come and experience some of our top courses for themselves. Their radio broadcasts and online and print articles will reach millions of golfers across the US and Canada, so their visit is an excellent opportunity to inspire a wide audience of prospective golf holidaymakers to visit the island of Ireland.

“The Irish Open at Royal County Down Golf Club in September, the return of The Open to Royal Portrush in 2025 and the hosting of the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027 are key messages for Tourism Ireland in our golf promotions overseas. We know that the combination of our world-class golf and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers from across the US and Canada.”
