€2M+ Dublin Airport Transit Upgrade Targets Peak-Season Stress for 25,000+ Weekly Passengers
Park2Travel rolls out real-time smart tracking tech and custom dual-door Volvo fleet to ease the pressure of a busy airport during peak season.
Park2Travel, the major airport parking facility operated by APCOA, has launched a €2 Million+ technological and fleet overhaul to support their more than 25,000 weekly passengers from peak-season transit delays at Dublin Airport.

With passenger numbers surging ahead of the busy summer and holiday travel windows, the major investment introduces a cutting-edge real-time passenger information system alongside five brand-new, custom-built dual-door Volvo shuttle buses. The upgrade directly targets the traditional stresses of peak time travel by drastically reducing boarding times and eliminating transit bottlenecks between the 6,000+ space facility and the terminals.
The new passenger information system is supplied by Journeo, a leading transit technology provider for major UK hubs including London Heathrow, Stansted, and Bristol. The newly integrated technology provides real-time clarity at every stage of the trip and guarantees that Park2Travel maintains its reliable 12-minute frequency, even during peak travel windows.
Passengers can scan live QR codes at any bus stop within the car park or at Terminal 1 to view exactly when the next shuttle is due. On board, digital screens and automated audio countdowns update travellers on arrival times to the terminal or car park, while automatic zone announcements give passengers ample time to prepare for their specific stop.

Equipped with the new technology are five premium, 261-registered buses featuring a bespoke dual-door configuration – a major upgrade from standard airport shuttles. By introducing a second wide middle doorway alongside strategically positioned, mixed-height luggage racks, the buses solve a common industry bottleneck, allowing people with accessibility issues, families with buggies, and travellers with heavy bags to board and alight safely, quickly, and with ease.
To manage the heavy, high-capacity loads required for continuous 24/7 airport operation, Park2Travel selected the premium MCV Evora bodied Volvo B8RLE chassis from local dealer, Irish Commercials.
Announcing the new fleet and technology, Neil Cunningham, Managing Director of APCOA Ireland, said:
“When we launched Park2Travel, our mission was to bring much-needed capacity, efficiency, and competitive pricing to Dublin Airport travellers. As we continue to grow, our focus is firmly on listening to our customers, embracing smart transit technology, and reducing travel-related stress or anxiety. By introducing cutting-edge real-time tracking alongside these new buses, we are enabling passengers to track their journey and travel with greater confidence.
Because specialised airport buses cannot simply be purchased out of a showroom, we have taken the time to shop with our customers’ feedback at the forefront and source a custom-designed fleet that directly addresses passenger needs. Combined with live QR tracking and automated on-board countdowns, this investment ensures that our passenger journey is as smooth, modern, and digitally connected as possible.”
The new technology system and buses are now fully operational. For more information or to book parking, visit Park2Travel.
