Downtown Cleveland with Travelbiz.ie
To celebrate the new four times weekly year-round DUB-CLE service, as guests of Aer Lingus and Destination Cleveland, our travel trade/Travelbiz FAM trip group are brought on a guided walking tour of Downtown Cleveland which is one of the area’s fastest growing neighbourhoods. Cleveland, in the State of Ohio, within Cuyahoga County is on the southern shore of Lake Erie, part of the Great Lakes Region with more than 2 million residents in the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area and nearly 400,000 in the City of Cleveland. It’s called after General Moses Cleaveland who founded the city. The name changed to its current spelling in 1831 when the “a” was dropped in order to fit the city’s name on a newspaper masthead.
Fun fact 1: If you hear “Burning River” or “Holy Moses” it’s just someone ordering a locally made craft beer, there are more than 40 breweries in the metro area. Fun fact 2: Many Clevelanders identify themselves as being either eastsiders or westsiders -the division being the Cuyahoga River (not unlike northside and southside Dubliners and the river Liffey). We had lunch in the riverside Collision Bend Brewing Company followed by a walk along Flats East Bank boardwalk (think Temple Bar district).
