Cross the Atlantic with Avios: Aer Lingus celebrates 10 years of AerClub with its first transatlantic Avios-Only flight

New Avios-Only flight between Dublin and New York is now on sale, marking a decade of Aer Lingus’ loyalty programme.

The newly announced flights are exclusively available to AerClub members, with all seats only available to purchase with the airline’s reward currency, Avios.

Return flights start from just 23,400 Avios plus taxes, fees and carrier charges, thanks to a special 10% Avios discount on this flight only.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers can now be converted into Avios, with €100 in vouchers enough for a flight to New York City.

Aer Lingus has announced its first-ever transatlantic Avios-Only flight, with an exclusive service from Dublin to New York (JFK) set to take off as part of the airline’s celebrations for 10 years of its loyalty programme, AerClub.

Marking a decade of rewarding loyal customers, the milestone flight represents a major moment for Aer Lingus’ popular Avios-Only offering – where every seat onboard is exclusively available to purchase using the airline’s reward currency Avios. This is the first time the concept is being extended across the Atlantic with Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus celebrate 10 years of AerClub by announcing the first ever transatlantic Avios-Only flights

Since its launch in 2016, AerClub has grown to over four million members globally, offering value through the ability to collect and redeem Avios across travel and everyday spending. The introduction of a transatlantic Avios-Only flight reflects that continued development, recognising loyalty and rewarding members with new ways to redeem Avios.

Departing from Dublin on Friday 13 November, and with a return date from New York on Tuesday 17 November, the inaugural transatlantic Avios-Only flights offer AerClub members the perfect opportunity for a long weekend in ‘The Big Apple’, whether that be for sightseeing or pre-Christmas shopping.

Return flights, now on sale, can be booked for just 23,400 Avios per person in Economy, while Business Class is priced at 90,000 Avios return, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges. To celebrate a decade of AerClub, these Avios prices are 10% lower than standard Reward Flights from Dublin to New York, giving members a unique opportunity to score savings when heading stateside.

Avios can be collected by flying with Aer Lingus, shopping on the AerClub eStore or spending with hundreds of retail partners, including Tesco Ireland. Tesco Clubcard vouchers can now be converted into Avios, with €100 in vouchers enough for a flight to New York City. Members can also choose from a range of Avios + Cash options, meaning they do not need the full Avios balance to book an Avios-Only flight.

In another boost for members, Reward Flights also include a 23kg checked bag and 10kg carry-on case as standard for long-haul journeys.

Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer, Aer Lingus, said: “AerClub has brought value and savings to millions of loyal members since its inception in 2016. Our first Avios-Only flights to New York JFK mark a step forward in highlighting the value of AerClub and how it can deliver unique travel rewards. Avios-Only flights are a great way for members to make the most of their Avios, with options available for members who do not have enough Avios to cover the full fare. As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary this year, we look forward to welcoming AerClub members onboard this special flight.”

Adam Daniels, CEO, IAG Loyalty, said: “The launch of Avios-Only flights with Aer Lingus was another milestone in our journey to make travel more rewarding, and since then we’ve offered peak-time flights to destinations including Faro and Malta. So, to be taking the offering transatlantic is testament to its popularity and success amongst AerClub members, and is the perfect way to celebrate the programme’s 10th anniversary with a new way to redeem Avios.”

Established in 2016, AerClub now has more than four million members globally. AerClub has four membership tiers: Green, Silver, Platinum and Concierge. AerClub members can also collect Tier Credits and discover more travel benefits as they progress through the programme’s tiers.

Alongside these dedicated Avios-Only flights, customers can still enjoy Avios availability on all Aer Lingus routes (including Aer Lingus Regional flights, operated by Emerald Airlines). This means those looking to redeem their Avios on Reward Flights can still do so at another time or to another destination.

Avios is a reward currency that can be collected by AerClub members on purchases of flights, hotels, car hire, or by simply shopping with hundreds of retail partners through the AerClub eStore. Thanks to a new deal, Tesco Clubcard vouchers can now also be converted straight into Avios, turning groceries into getaways. Once collected, Avios can then be redeemed on flights, hotels, car hire and experiences, delivering savings to members on their travel spend.
