Autumn Sports in Philadelphia

As the crisp autumn air rolls in, Philadelphia becomes a sports haven. From the kick-off of new seasons to thrilling playoff runs, there’s something for every sports lover between September and November.

Philadelphia Sports Teams

Philadelphia Phillies: As the MLB season winds down, the Phillies are gearing up for an exciting conclusion. With the potential for playoff action in “Red” October, fans can look forward to cheering for “Fightin’ Phils” at Citizen Bank Park as they look to win their first World Series since 2008.

Philadelphia Eagles: The NFL season kicks off in mid-September, and the Philadelphia Eagles are ready to take flight after starting their 2024-25 campaign in the league’s first game in São Paulo, Brazil. The excitement in Lincoln Financial Field is palpable as the Birds look to dominate through December and potentially into the playoffs. Don’t miss the action-packed games and electrifying tailgates only the Eagles (and their passionate fans) can provide.

Philadelphia 76ers: Basketball season also begins in late October, and the Philadelphia 76ers are set to make their mark in the NBA. With a roster full of talent, the Sixers aim to make a strong start and build momentum for a successful season as they take on the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics.

Philadelphia Union: Soccer enthusiasts can enjoy the end of the Philadelphia Union’s season, with potential playoff excitement into October and November. The Union’s dynamic play ensures that fans will be on the edge of their seats at the scenically located Subaru Park on the Delaware River in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania.

Races in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Distance Run: Running season also begins in Autumn in Philadelphia. September brings the Philadelphia Distance Run, a premier half-marathon event that draws runners from all over. The flattest half-marathon in Philadelphia offers a scenic route through the city’s historic streets and vibrant neighbourhoods.

The Rocky Run: Run throughout Philadelphia like the Italian Stallion himself during the Rocky Run. Runners from around the world come together annually on the second weekend of November to run around the Philadelphia Museum of Art just like Rocky did in his famed montages. Racers can run a 5K, 10 Miler, or the 13.1 Half Marathon Italian Stallion challenge.

Philadelphia Marathon In November, the Philadelphia Marathon takes centre stage. Traditionally held the fourth weekend in November, runners from around the globe gather to conquer this course, known as one of the quickest courses in America.
