Philadelphia Eagles: The NFL season kicks off in mid-September, and the Philadelphia Eagles are ready to take flight after starting their 2024-25 campaign in the league’s first game in São Paulo, Brazil. The excitement in Lincoln Financial Field is palpable as the Birds look to dominate through December and potentially into the playoffs. Don’t miss the action-packed games and electrifying tailgates only the Eagles (and their passionate fans) can provide.

Philadelphia Flyers: Hockey fans should mark their calendars for late October when the Philadelphia Flyers hit the ice. The start of the NHL season promises intense matchups and high-energy performances from the young Flyers at the Wells Fargo Centre.

Philadelphia 76ers: Basketball season also begins in late October, and the Philadelphia 76ers are set to make their mark in the NBA. With a roster full of talent, the Sixers aim to make a strong start and build momentum for a successful season as they take on the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics.

Philadelphia Union: Soccer enthusiasts can enjoy the end of the Philadelphia Union’s season, with potential playoff excitement into October and November. The Union’s dynamic play ensures that fans will be on the edge of their seats at the scenically located Subaru Park on the Delaware River in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania.
Races in Philadelphia
Philadelphia Distance Run: Running season also begins in Autumn in Philadelphia. September brings the Philadelphia Distance Run, a premier half-marathon event that draws runners from all over. The flattest half-marathon in Philadelphia offers a scenic route through the city’s historic streets and vibrant neighbourhoods.
The Rocky Run: Run throughout Philadelphia like the Italian Stallion himself during the Rocky Run. Runners from around the world come together annually on the second weekend of November to run around the Philadelphia Museum of Art just like Rocky did in his famed montages. Racers can run a 5K, 10 Miler, or the 13.1 Half Marathon Italian Stallion challenge.
Philadelphia Marathon In November, the Philadelphia Marathon takes centre stage. Traditionally held the fourth weekend in November, runners from around the globe gather to conquer this course, known as one of the quickest courses in America.

Sports Events in 2026
2026 is America’s 250th anniversary and is shaping up to be a landmark year for sports in Philadelphia. The city has been chosen as one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, and will hold six matches at Lincoln Financial Field. The schedule includes five group stage matches and one round of 16 match, which will be on the Fourth of July. Fans from around the world can watch all of the World Cup matches at the FIFA Fan Festival held at Fairmount Park’s Lemon Hill.

Philadelphia will also host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in the summer of 2026 at Citizens Bank Park — home of the Philadelphia Phillies. March Madness will return to Philadelphia when the Wells Fargo centre hosts the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Basketball select 1st and 2nd round games. And just outside of Philadelphia, Aronimink Golf Club will host the 2026 PGA Championship.
