Austria’s snowy slopes ski into Dublin

#Traveltradetogether

Jacinta from Travelbiz attended a busy workshop and lunch in Camden Court Hotel on September 5th to hear about all matters snowy and skiing on behalf of the Austrian National Tourist Office. Project Manager, Dagmar Mc Guinness (Advantage Austria) and her willing and very able accomplice, Aileen Eglington (AE Consulting) and (I know she won’t mind me saying this!) absolute fanatic and wholly knowledgeable person on Austria, brought Irish travel agents and media together to hear all about what these utterly picturesque resorts have to offer. Totally apart from the obvious thrills of skiing, snowy mountain peaks and chocolate box pretty villages, each speaker delivered passionate reviews of their own particular area and waxed lyrical about snowboarding, tobogganing, hiking, cycling, trail running, llama trekking and mountain climbing in their regions.

Martina Jamnig – Austrian National TO London

Nina Holstein – Wilder Kaiser Tourism

Christina Schaireiter – Zell am See – KaprunTourism

Stefan Leitner – Skejewel Alpbachtal Wildschonau

Jane Shepherd – Innsbruck Tourism

The speakers were infectious in their enthusiasm and videos of their regions were hardly necessary as the audience was already sold on awesome Austria and the Tyrol. More family-oriented resorts are gaining in popularity with SkiJuwel offering 113 klms of slopes, family ski passes and 25 ski huts and mountain restaurants. Soll needs little introduction with its superb infrastructure and Innsbruck similarly hosts many Irish holidaymakers with amazing connectivity and those irresistible Christmas markets! Of course, Zell am See is unmissable with its breathtaking scenery on the lake and the Kizsteinhorn glacier to climb amidst the eastern Alps. With flights from Dublin, Cork and Belfast into Munich and Innsbruck, those stunning snowy slopes are always within easy reach. A motto of: Quality of Life through Sustainable Tourism and taking huge responsibility for nature, Austria seems to be getting the message right. By the way Aileen, I shall be calling to sample your Kaiserschmarrn soon!
