Aurora Awaits: Aer Lingus launches new winter route to Tromsø, Norway

Fly from Dublin to Tromsø with fares starting from €99.

Flights will operate twice weekly until 25th March 2026.

Aer Lingus has launched its inaugural Dublin-Tromsø service today, giving customers a new way to experience the magic of the Northern Lights. This new route marks Aer Lingus’ first ever direct service to Norway and direct access to the natural beauty of the Arctic.

Whether chasing the Aurora Borealis, enjoying 24-hour skiing, or seeking a picturesque winter escape, Tromsø offers something for everyone. Flights to Tromsø will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays, until March 2026, with one-way fares starting from €101 including taxes, charges, and carrier-imposed fees.

Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer, Aer Lingus, said: “Today marks a milestone for Aer Lingus as our inaugural direct service from Dublin to Tromsø takes flight, introducing Norway to our network for the very first time. This exciting new route gives customers in Ireland the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and unique adventures of Northern Norway this winter. It also enhances the region’s connectivity to the US, making the region easily accessible via Aer Lingus’ Dublin Hub.”

Ivar Schrøen Helsing, Airport Manager, Avinor Tromsø Airport said: “Finally, we can welcome Irish people on direct flights to fantastic Tromsø, to the northern lights, and outstanding nature and experiences – as well as send all our local adventurous northerners to beautiful and cultural Dublin and Ireland”.

Arctic Adventure

With its unique location within the Northern Lights Belt, Tromsø is an ideal destination for visitors hoping to experience the beauty of the Aurora Borealis. The city’s famous Fjellheisen cable car to the summit of Mount Storsteinen offers one of the best ways to see this natural phenomenon, whilst also enjoying panoramic views of the city – including its famous Arctic Cathedral.

Just 12 km from the airport, Tromsø Alpinpark offers slopes for all skill levels—perfect for snow sports enthusiasts seeking adventure in the Arctic.

For customers looking for winter escapes, Aer Lingus recently launched new direct flights from Dublin to Turin, as well as direct flights from Cork to Prague. A new route from Cork to Geneva will also launch on 20th December.
