AmaWaterways Takes Guests Beyond the Nile with New Alexandria Land Package

#Traveltradetogether

River Cruise Line Enhances Popular Nile Programme with Post-Cruise Extension to the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”.

As travels to Egypt are on the rise, leading river cruise line AmaWaterways has unveiled a new optional land package in Alexandria, Egypt, designed to complement its popular Secrets of Egypt & the Nile itinerary. Available to experience starting September 2025, this three-night post-cruise extension offers guests an immersive journey into the cultural and historical richness of Alexandria, the legendary coastal city where Cleopatra once reigned.

“Amid the surge in demand for travel to Egypt, we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to experience even more of this bucket-list destination,” said Kristin Karst, co-founder and chief brand ambassador of AmaWaterways. “There’s a special fascination with Alexandria, and we’re always listening to our guests’ interests. This incredible city is the perfect extension to our Secrets of Egypt & the Nile itinerary, allowing travellers to delve even deeper into the country’s rich history. Our guests are invited to explore the wonders of Egypt beyond the Nile, all while enjoying the exceptional comfort and service they’ve come to expect from AmaWaterways.”

The Alexandria Land Package adds two nights in Alexandria and one night in Cairo following the cruise and land journey that is part of AmaWaterways’ 11-night Secrets of Egypt & the Nile itinerary. Travellers will stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Alexandria and explore the city’s most iconic sites, including roman antiquities and ancient catacombs, the beautifully restored Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century fortress on the Mediterranean, as well as a visit to Wadi El Natrun, one of Egypt’s most sacred Coptic pilgrimage destinations. The package concludes with a one-night stay at Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel for added convenience before international departure.

Every AmaWaterways land package includes daily breakfast at the hotel and enriching city tours and excursions, convenient transfers and luggage service between our guests’ hotel and river cruise ship, and the services of an AmaWaterways Cruise Manager throughout their river cruise and land journey.

This new experience enhances the Secrets of Egypt & the Nile programme, which includes a 7-night river cruise roundtrip from Luxor aboard either AmaLilia or AmaDahlia, plus a 4-night Cairo stay—comprised of three nights before the cruise and one night after. Guests sail along the legendary Nile in comfort, discovering ancient sites like the Temple of Luxor and Valley of the Kings with expert Egyptologists as guides, and enjoying luxurious accommodations such as The St. Regis Cairo or The Ritz-Carlton Cairo, depending on the ship.

The optional Alexandria land extension can be added to sailings from September through June, aligning with the existing cruise season.

Prices start from €6,865 per person for the seven-night cruise on AmaLilia departing on 8 December 2025 in a category E stateroom including three nights in Cairo pre-cruise, plus two nights in Cairo and 2 nights in Alexandria post-cruise. The price includes current savings of up to €650 per person.
