Air Canada celebrates Canada Day with Travel Media Lunch

#Traveltradetogether

July 1st is Canada Day and to celebrate the occasion Air Canada held its first ever travel media lunch in Ireland on the actual day, in the Westbury Hotel Dublin.

Our very genial host was Bláithín O’Donnell, Air Canada’s Sales Manager-Ireland and she was joined by Rio Smith, who flew in from London for the occasion, while Declan Mescall (Features Editor Travelbiz) was there to join in the celebratory festivities.

Canada Day was first celebrated in 1867 and Air Canada began operations to Ireland in 1947. The airline operates routes between Dublin and Toronto year round, daily in summer and 5 times weekly in winter season. Their Dublin-Montreal summer service operates 4 times weekly June to September and the Dublin-Vancouver summer seasonal schedule has up to 5 flights weekly. Passenger numbers are showing an 18% increase for 2025 versus last year. All flights are operated by Dreamliner B787 aircraft and offer economy class, premium economy and Air Canada Signature Service.

Air Canada also offer “non Canada” destinations with same day connections from Dublin to Cancun, Punta Cana, Montego Bay, Nassau, San Jose, Bermuda, Mexico City, Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Now that’s something to celebrate.

Air Canada Fact Sheet

Air Canada flights from Ireland

This summer, Air Canada will offer up to 16 weekly flights between Ireland and Canada.

Demand for Canada from Ireland continues to soar in line with an increase in capacity from Dublin Airport, showing approximately 17% growth year on year, compared to 2024 capacities.

With approximately 4.5 million Canadians claiming Irish ancestry, ties between Canada and the island of Ireland have never been closer.

This year, Air Canada has boosted its Canadian connections, offering customers in Ireland unrivalled access to some of North America’s best cities and beyond.

Thanks to the pausing of the Dublin Airport passenger cap, additional summer flights have been added from Dublin to Montréal and Vancouver, complimenting existing year-round flights to Canada’s largest city, Toronto.

The airline’s expansion, focussed on Latin America, will notably include four totally new destinations, currently unserved by the global carrier – Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara

The airline’s award-winning services and employees have received numerous industry honours such as a Five Star Global Airline Award at the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) 2024 awards, as well as being named by Skytrax in 2023 as the world’s most family friendly airline, the Best Airline in Canada, and recognised for having the Best Airline Staff in Canada.
