Aer Lingus sets its sights on the Mediterranean with new Avios-Only flights this summer

New Avios-Only flights between Dublin and Malta will go on sale tomorrow, for travel during the peak summer month of August.

The newly announced flights are exclusively available to AerClub members, with all seats only available to purchase with the airline’s reward currency, Avios.

Aer Lingus has announced the Mediterranean island of Malta as the latest destination for its exclusive Avios-Only flights, as the airline opens up sun-soaked getaways for its most loyal customers.

Marking the return of Aer Lingus’ highly anticipated Avios-Only flights – where every seat onboard is only available to purchase with the airline’s reward currency – the news comes as customers begin planning their summer holidays. Avios-Only flights are hugely popular with AerClub members as they offer a unique way to make travel more cost-effective.

Departing from Dublin on Saturday 1st August 2026, and returning one week later on 8th August, the flights are exclusively available to AerClub members and have been chosen to make Avios redemptions even easier during the peak school holidays. The flights also offer greater access to one of the fastest growing destinations for Irish holidaymakers, Malta.

Return flights, going on sale tomorrow, can be booked for just 20,000 Avios per person, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges. Another perk of these Avios-Only flights is that they also include a 20kg checked bag and 10kg carry-on case as standard. Members who don’t have enough Avios to cover the total cost of the flight can also choose from a range of other Avios + Cash options.

Customers hoping to experience the magic of Malta should plan to book their spot early to avoid disappointment. Aer Lingus’ first Avios-Only flight to Tenerife last year sold out in a record three hours.

Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer, Aer Lingus, said: “AerClub is a loyalty programme for people who love to travel and enjoy getting the best value for money. Our Avios-Only flights demonstrate how easily it is to convert Avios, the currency of AerClub, into an unforgettable travel experience. For AerClub members seeking a unique adventure this summer, Malta offers rich history, serene beaches and Mediterranean charm. We expect strong demand for this Avios-Only flight, so we advise our loyal members not to delay when making that booking.”

Adam Daniels, CEO, IAG Loyalty, said: “With summer holidays fast approaching, we’re pleased to be giving loyal AerClub members even more ways to redeem their Avios, during what is one of the biggest travel periods of the year. As with previous Avios-Only flights for Aer Lingus, we expect these will prove incredibly popular with families, friends, and couples, looking to save some money while heading on their next adventure.”

Alongside these dedicated Avios-Only flights, customers can still enjoy Avios availability on all Aer Lingus routes (including Aer Lingus Regional flights, operated by Emerald Airlines). This means those looking to redeem their Avios on Reward Flights can still do so at another time or to another destination.

Avios is a reward currency that can be collected by AerClub members on purchases of flights, hotels, car hire, or by simply shopping with hundreds of retail partners through the AerClub eStore. Thanks to a new deal, Tesco Clubcard vouchers can now also be converted straight into Avios, turning groceries into getaways. Once collected, Avios can then be redeemed on flights, hotels, car hire and experiences, delivering savings to members on their travel spend.

Established in 2016, AerClub now has almost 4 million members globally. AerClub has four membership tiers: Green, Silver, Platinum and Concierge. AerClub members can also collect Tier Credits and discover more travel benefits as they progress through the programme’s tiers.
