Aer Lingus is now accepting applications for the 2026 Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship Programme

Calling all future aircraft engineers!

Aer Lingus is searching for its next class of Aircraft Engineer Apprentices, encouraging applicants with a strong technical and mechanical interest to submit their application before the closing date on 1st March.

The four-year programme, delivered in partnership with SOLAS (the State’s further education and training agency located in Shannon), Technological University Dublin (TUD), and the South East Technological University (SETU), provides aspiring engineers with practical experience as they progress toward full qualification as Aircraft Engineers.

Upon completing their apprenticeships, graduates will have the opportunity to launch their careers within Aer Lingus’ Maintenance & Engineering department, where they will have the opportunity to work on a modern fleet of aircraft, including the airline’s A330, A320, A321LR and the latest A321XLR aircraft.

Apprentices will also earn while they learn during their apprenticeship, as Aer Lingus and SOLAS offer a structured pay scale throughout the 4 years.

The apprenticeship will begin in Dublin, followed by 9 months spent in Shannon. Apprentices will then return to Dublin where they will be working alongside experienced Aer Lingus engineers in a structured and supervised environment, while simultaneously studying in TUD or SETU to complete modules for their EASA license.

Javier Jimenez, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Aer Lingus said: “Aer Lingus has a long‑standing apprenticeship programme that has developed generations of highly skilled aircraft engineers. Our programme offers apprentices the chance to learn from expert teams, work with cutting‑edge aviation technology, and build a strong foundation for an engineering career. As applications open for the 2026 intake, we look forward to welcoming the next generation of engineers who will gain essential technical knowledge and hands‑on experience.”

Éabha Ball, Aircraft Engineer Apprentice at Aer Lingus said: “Aer Lingus’ Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship programme offers a blend of classroom learning and on the job training, working alongside a team of really supportive and experienced engineers. On completing the course, we’ll have qualifications as Aircraft Engineers that will help us secure long-term careers in the industry. Working with an airline also has added travel benefits, letting you explore the world while you learn or to make the most of your downtime for getaway breaks. If you’re passionate about engineering and seek a challenging, inspiring career, this is an ideal starting point.”

Candidates can apply online now via the Aer Lingus website until 1st March, by submitting a CV application. If they meet the essential criteria, they will be invited to complete an online assessment and interview. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by 1st September 2026.
