Aer Lingus connects Dublin to Pittsburgh with direct flight route

Aer Lingus connects Dublin to Pittsburgh with direct flight route

The Irish airline will begin first-ever non stop flights from PIT to Dublin in 2026.

From Spring 2026, Irish travellers will be able to fly nonstop to the vibrant U.S. city of Pittsburgh following the launch of a new year-round flight from Dublin Airport (DUB) to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). Launching 25 May, the new service will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – with a short pause in January and February. Fares start from €512 and are available to book now with Aer Lingus.

Pittsburgh shares many cultural and ancestral links with Ireland and the new flight route will only serve to strengthen these historic ties. Aer Lingus also holds a special relationship with the city, where this year it announced itself as the Official Airline Partner of the iconic American Football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Visitors planning a trip to Pittsburgh in 2026 will be delighted with the rich array of exciting sporting events, art exhibitions and delicious culinary additions on offer, making for the perfect city break option. In May, the 59th Carnegie International, (North America’s longest-running global contemporary art exhibition), will kick off some of the excitement and transform the Carnegie Museum of Art and the city into an artists hub with major commissions, installations and international works on display.

The cultural energy continues with new openings such as Arts Landing, a four-acre waterfront hub for performances, public art and recreation, alongside standout exhibitions ranging from groundbreaking digital art at Wood Street Galleries to French modernist masterpieces and powerful historic photography at The Frick. Meanwhile, the city’s sporting scene remains as vibrant as ever, with year-round action from the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates in some of the country’s most atmospheric stadiums.

This announcement adds real excitement, making Pittsburgh an even more accessible destination for Irish travellers, as well as those connecting via Dublin. Thanks to Dublin Airport’s US Preclearance, passengers can complete all immigration checks before departure, saving significant time on arrival and allowing for a smooth landing where visitors can dive straight into their Pittsburgh adventure.

The news comes hot on the heels of Pittsburgh International Airport unveiling of its new state-of-the-art terminal. Arriving into Pittsburgh, visitors will be welcomed by this $1.7 billion update which incorporates the city’s creative spirit with more than 80% of the arts and cultural installations throughout the facility coming from local artists.

Pittsburgh has no shortage of things to see and do, with a sports scene that caters to every taste. From the fast-paced thrills of ice hockey with the Pittsburgh Penguins, to baseball games with the Pirates and American Football action in the legendary Steelers, the city’s iconic venues are alive year-round. Beyond sport, Pittsburgh shines for its arts and culture as the birthplace of Andy Warhol and home to the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single artist. Add a thriving craft beverage scene and an exciting food culture,  including James Beard–nominated restaurants Apteka and Pusadee’s Garden, and Pittsburgh delivers on every level.
