New England Fabulous Summer Trade Lunch in Dublin.

Jacinta from Travelbiz joined Tony Lane (Trade & PR Representative – Discover New England) and Kerrie Tripp (Discover New England Director of Product & Sales) for a fabulous Trade lunch in Ely Restaurant & Wine Bar in Dublin on Thursday June 27th. New England comprises 6 states and we spent a super afternoon catching up with the passionate representatives of each. Kerrie, hailing from marvellous Maine, introduced the members and spoke lovingly of her own State of Maine.

Sue Henrique (State Tourism Office Connecticut) advised us that New Haven is the pizza capital of the US and, sharing Long Island Sound, maritime activities are high on the agenda. Nancy Franco (Yale University Visitor Centre) told us about the stunning museums on campus (natural history and art) and of the 90,000 private tours of the University per annum. Terry Macary (Western Connecticut) extolled the quiet luxury of the area and with Amtrak connectivity, the proximity to New York is a dawdle. Laurie Harnois (Visit New Hampshire) described moose safaris, the oldest craft guild in the US and culinary delights like lobster and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Rob Kluin (See Plymouth) explained the history attached to ‘America’s Home Town’ welcoming pilgrims since the Mayflower and mentioned the excellent cuisine in the region. Kirsten Adomo (Go Providence) advised us her College Town (Brown University) was the creative capital of the US with culture and history at the heart. Tim Walsh (Discover Newport) was excited to tell us about Newport, a nautical marvel (think Americas Cup) and the myriad festivals year-round. Even the setting for the Gilded Age with its magnificent mansions, Newport has excitement and adventure at every turn.

Tony Lane (Trade & PR Representative – Discover New England) orchestrated proceedings with his usual aplomb and the New England representatives were eager, enthusiastic and excellent speakers. The regions are well served by these passionate individuals.
