Spanish Tourist Office Dublin showcases Castilla–La Mancha central Spain.

Jacinta from Travelbiz joins the terrific team from the Spanish Tourist Office in Dublin, headed up by the highly respected Ruben Lopez, to showcase the fascinating area of Castilla –La Mancha in central Spain. Medley in Dublin was the venue for the event. The region of Castilla-La Mancha is most celebrated by the Spanish writer, Miguel de Cervantes, who brought us the fabulous characters Don Quixote and Sancho Panza (and his faithful donkey!) to roam the vast plains of La Mancha in his epic novel. Published early in the 1600’s, this is considered one of the foremost works of fiction ever written.

A splendid video gave us an insight into this unique and exceptional destination and the Regional Minister of Tourism of Castilla-La Mancha, Mrs Patricia Franco Jimenez, spoke eloquently and passionately about her beloved area. Mentioning the gorgeous cities of Toledo, Cuenca, Ciudad Real, Guadalajara and Albacete, she apprised us of their amazing history, culture, art and music legacies and, of course, delicious cuisine which ranges from Michelin Star through Repsol Soles to delicious local fare. Who doesn’t love Manchego cheese?

Ruben Lopez (Director Spanish TO Dublin) also extolled the virtues of the region and claimed it as the birthplace of his Father. Castilla-La Mancha is renowned not only as a literary destination, but as a place of world heritage sites, historical marvels, natural wonders within nature, huge religious ceremonies and public processions, wine routes and astounding sightseeing opportunities.

Well, we had Don Quixote & his sidekick re-enacted last night, tippled wonderful wines of the region and ate tapas from Michelin Star Chef Jesus Segura. What a night! Spain always puts on a smashing show and Castilla-La Mancha is definitely on my bucket list. Lucky Joan Scales won the brilliant prize of a trip to Castilla-La Mancha. Buen viaje!
