Finnair serves up new summer menu brimming with fresh flavours

Finnair has launched its summer menu, treating customers to new mouthwatering meals and light savoury snacks packed with fresh flavours.

Customers flying on Finnair flights can tuck into a range of tasty dishes – available for purchase inflight – including vegetable bolognese pasta, vegetarian korma curry noodles and berry oatmeal. They can also enjoy salty snacks and sweet treats such as cashew nuts, blueberry muffins, salty liquorice and fruit candy.

Depending on the route, customers can also pre-order a hot meal or fresh sandwich. Hot meal options include grilled chicken fillet with carrot spaghetti, carrot puree, and pea pesto, as well as stewed beef with fried potatoes, onions, green beans and liquorice sauce.

The drinks menu has also been updated for the sunny season, with a summery rosé wine to get leisure travellers in the holiday spirit or to help business travellers unwind during their flight.

Sami Oksava, Finnair Development Chef, said: “When planning onboard dining, we take into account route destinations, flight times and schedules, and the typical customer demographic of those flying on particular routes.

“On our long-haul flights from Helsinki to Singapore, Nagoya, Hong Kong and Shanghai, our in-flight service concept has been renewed to account for the late departure time of the flight and to benefit our customers.

“On these routes, we first offer a light meal in Business Class and a delicious brunch before the flight lands. Business Class brunch consists of breakfast-style starters and dessert selection, as well as three main courses to choose from. We also offer in Premium Economy and Economy classes brunch style lighter meals on these routes before landing.”

The summer menu, running until October 29, 2024, is inspired by Nordic summer flavours. Business Class guests travelling long-haul can choose a starter from salmon sashimi, shrimp tartlet, and summer vegetables.

For the main course, Finnair’s Business Class customers can choose from three dishes: beef, fish or a third option that is dependent on the route. The beef option is a slow-cooked beef in a dough crust with mushroom duxelle, root puree, roasted vegetables and red wine sauce. Those choosing the fish dish will be treated to a panko-coated rainbow trout, sauteed leek and roasted vegetables with horseradish and mustard.

Business Class customers – and Premium Economy travellers on flights departing from Helsinki – can select their preferred main course in advance when flying long-haul via Finnair’s Manage booking service.

Customers with special dietary requirements can pre-select their special diet option up to 24 hours before their flight via Manage booking. The same option is available to Finnair Plus members in their Finnair Plus profile.

Premium Economy Class customers on long-haul flights can opt for a high-quality main meal and a lighter second meal or snack. Complimentary hot and cold refreshments and alcoholic beverages (excluding sparkling wine) are also available throughout flights.

On long-haul flights in Economy class, guests can enjoy a tasty hot meal with non-alcoholic beverages and one complimentary glass of wine or a mild alcoholic beverage (excluding sparkling wine). A light meal or snack with non-alcoholic drinks are also served just before landing.

Finnair offers complimentary blueberry juice or water on all flights except its short service to Tallinn. Coffee, tea, other beverages and snacks can be purchased during the in-flight service. Coffee drinkers will be offered an oat drink option in addition to regular coffee milk.

More information about Finnair’s summer menu can be found on the Nordic Kitchen page of the website.
