Nova Scotia Welcomes New Airlift

#Traveltradetogether

Nova Scotia has never been more accessible for British visitors. Starting summer 2024, the chief international gateway to the Atlantic Canada region will see two seasonal transatlantic non-stop services resume and one new flight route with WestJet as well as a further choice via a connecting flight with Icelandair. Details of the new airlift options as follows:

WestJet

WesJet will be offering a seasonal direct flight to Nova Scotia’s capital Halifax from London, Dublin and Edinburgh which will be served by the airline’s Boeing 737 MAX fleet. The London and Dublin service will operate 4 times a week and will start on 29 April and 20 June 2024 respectively. The Edinburgh service – a new route not previously operated – will operate three times a week from 20 June 2024.

Icelandair

May 2024 will also see the return of Icelandair to Halifax Stanfield International Airport opening up another exciting way to access the province of Nova Scotia from the UK, with the added bonus of free Iceland stopovers en route for durations of up to seven days.  Icelandair’s new thrice-weekly seasonal service, which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from May 31 through to October 14, marks the welcome return of the carrier to Halifax after a five-year absence.  Flights are already on sale for the service, which will be served by the carrier’s Boeing 737MAX8 aircraft.

Tourism Nova Scotia will continue to reaffirm their commitment to industry partners in the UK and to raise awareness of Nova Scotia as a holiday destination. Emma Cashmore, Tourism Nova Scotia’s UK Account Director, of Axis Travel Marketing Ltd. commented:

“We are thrilled to see the return of these vital transatlantic connections as well as the introduction of a new route from Edinburgh and the start of new routes. Having another London flight, as well as the direct regional and connecting services, opens up the options for UK travellers to access the province and indeed all of Atlantic Canada.  The UK is the number one overseas market for Nova Scotia and our aim is to continue this growth and help support our reinstated services and new routes by working closely with our industry partners”.

With more than 13,000 km of coastline to explore, Nova Scotia is an ocean playground and filled to the brim with stunning natural beauty, diverse cultures, rich heritage, and warm, friendly people. Home to some of the most authentic, exclusive and extraordinary coastal experiences in North America, the province is rich in history – boasting 6 UNESCO designated sites – and is known for its spectacular beaches, and a top-notch locally sourced culinary scene shaped by the sea.
