Visit Derry. Legenderry – It’s Legenderry

#Traveltradetogether

The City of Derry visited Dublin to bring us all the excitement that the city is engaged in and to showcase the destination and present it in all its glory. A brilliant turn-out in the Alex Hotel guaranteed an excellent networking platform and Karen Henderson (Visit Derry) gave a wonderful overview of participants and trade partners. Welcomed firstly by Gwen Beveridge (Tourism NI), we also had a heartwarming presentation from Guest Speaker, Ian Orr, Best Chef in Ulster. Owner of Browns Restaurants, Ian certainly made an inviting speech to attract new diners.

Ireland’s only completely walled city, Derry absolutely punches above its weight. There are super hotels from the brand new Ebrington to Holiday Inn Express, Hastings Everglades, City Hotel, Bishops Gate Hotel, Maldron Hotel, Roe Park Resort, Millennium Forum to Inishowen Gateway (Buncrana), so there’s no shortage of beds available.

Of course, the Derry Girls Experience (opening July 4th) will be a cracker and the stunning Guildhall with the John Hume Peace Collection is free to visit. In addition, a new Peacemakers Museum located at Gas Yard is due to open in Spring 2024. Derry City buzzes at every time of year with foodie outlets, live music sessions and a Jazz Festival that is bigger than Cork! Derry was even voted the best Hallowe’en destination in the world! Situated close to the Ulster American Folk Park and Brook Hall Estate & Gardens, there are lots of activities and family friendly adventures in the area.

The Taproom at Walled City Brewery, Crinkle Bespoke Tours (horseback riding) and Limitless Adventure (hovercraft, archery etc) should enhance any tourist experience. Derry is extremely proud to host GAA World Games 2023 and is delighted that the Open returns to Royal Portrush in 2025. In the company of Fiona Cunningham (Manager Tourism NI in Dublin) and Clare Mc Coy, we enjoyed a delicious brunch in the Alex and agreed that Karen Henderson certainly whets the appetite for a visit to Derry. After all, it’s Legenderry.
