Cleveland Ohio with Travelbiz

#Traveltradetogether

Declan Mescall (Travelbiz Features Editor) brings you all things Cleveland Ohio as a guest of Aer Lingus and This Is Cleveland.

Our afternoon was spent in the very interesting must-see University Circle area with one square mile of arts and culture institutions, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and many others. Here you can immerse yourself in a globally renowned art collection – from ancient treasures to the work of modern masters – at the Cleveland Museum of Art, one of the top museums in the US. Cleveland Botanical Gardens features outdoor and indoor gardens spread over 3,500 acres including lush woodlands and 200 acres dedicated to cultivated gardens, as well as a Children’s Garden and includes a visual treat with hundreds of newly emerged butterflies and is home to a world-class collection of exotic animals and plants.

Nearby is the Irish Cultural Garden where we stopped for a photo shoot. It is one of Ohio’s 35 gardens dedicated to distinct cultural or nationality groups. The landscape design centres on sandstone walkways in the shape of a Celtic Cross, was dedicated in 1939 and is sponsored by the Irish Garden Club. It contains a Writers Recognition Court with busts of 13 Irish writers including Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, Enda O’Brien, Sean O’Casey, Padraig Pearse, Seamus Heaney and George Bernard Shaw.
