Wideroe Airlines launch from Dublin

#Traveltradetogether

Jacinta (Travelbiz) was at the exciting Wideroe’s inaugural flight from Dublin to Bergen in Norway on 27 April. Officials from Dublin airport were in attendance to witness Wideroe (pronounce with a V) landing and to wave passengers off on the inaugural flight. The Embraer E90 aircraft with 110 seats will operate twice weekly direct from Dublin (I feel a delightful long weekend looming!) serving the gorgeous city of Bergen, located on the southwestern coast of Norway. Wideroe was established in 1934, employing 2.500 staff with a turnover of 3.5 billion, is the largest regional airline in Nordic countries.

Serving over 40 regional and international destinations, it’s now the largest airline in Scandinavia. Gateway to Norway’s magical fjords, Bergen is a colourful and pretty destination and perfect to grab the opportunity to sail an iconic fjord and even view the tantalising Northern Lights! “Wideroe’s twice weekly rotation may well increase during the summer months”, said Jon Woolf (Senior VP Business Development Dublin Airport). Owen Mc Loughlin (Vice President DAA) concurred and was thrilled with the latest addition to the airport’s busy schedule. On hand to welcome Wideroe into Dublin also were Mark Povall (KPI Aviation Marketing Solutions) and of course, the enthusiastic and hardworking Louise Bannon (Head of Marketing Dublin Airport), Edel Redmond (Head of Airline Partner Marketing) and Michelle Reilly (Even Co-Ordinator) from Dublin Airport. Representing the Norwegian Embassy, Torunn S. Griffin was thrilled to be in attendance and wished God Tur (Good Trip) to the travellers. This new flight series from Bergen will also boost the coffers of Irish Tourism, bringing lovely Norwegian visitors into Ireland. The direct flight to Bergen is set to be a winner, so can you a fjord not to go?
