Italian National Tourist Board Host Irish Trade

#Traveltradetogether

Declan Mescall (Features Editor Travelbiz) was invited to join the Italian Ambassador to Ireland HE Mr Ruggero Corrias who presided over the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT) function hosted by Mr Flavio Zappacosta (ENIT Head of UK & Ireland) in the Dean Hotel, Dublin to launch their 2023 campaign in the Irish market.

Pre pandemic in 2019 Italy received about half a million visitors from Ireland and it looks like this number will be exceeded this year. Ryanair fly to 16 Italian destinations from Dublin, 5 from Cork, 2 from Shannon and one each from Knock and Belfast. Aer Lingus fly to 12 Italian destinations from Dublin and Jet2 fly from Belfast to Verona. Flavio told Declan Mescall (Features Editor Travelbiz) Italy has 55 UNESCO world Heritage Sites and is the most popular destination for Irish weddings and honeymoons. Other key reasons for travel to Italy are art & culture, luxury, opera, food, nature and sport. Bergamo and Brescia are the 2023 Italian capitals of culture and the Ryder Cup will take place near Rome from 25 September.
