Congratulations Paul King Nolan on your retirement

#Traveltradetogether

Don Shearer (Travelbiz) spoke with his friend and travel colleague Paul Nolan last week on his decision to retire after 50 plus years in the industry.

“Our next-door neighbour when I was growing up, was a pilot. I was in awe of his travels and this was a deciding factor in me getting into travel”, said Paul as he embarked on his career in the industry,

“Having left school after my Leaving Cert in 1972 I joined B+I LINE where I worked with familiar names such as Noeleen Lynch and Tony Bond, where I remained until 1980 when I moved to London to work in British Airways in their reservations Centre in West London Terminal on Cromwell Road….Eventually moving back to BA in Dublin in 1982, when I met the gorgeous Mary”.

“Marriage ensued in 1986 and we then moved back to London where I initially worked in the BA Sales Shop in Reading…..I moved to Terminal 4, LHR soon after, working on the Concorde and First Class Ticket desk where I met many notable celebrities and also got to work in many cities around the world on attachment’s.

“Then in 1994 moved to terminal 1 LHR as Commercial Manager, following the birth of two of our three daughters, Sarah and Grace”.

“In 1997, I left BA and we moved back to Dublin. Our third daughter Eve arrived in January 1998. At the same time, I started working with Noeleen Lynch again, in Atlas as their Corporate Account Manager under the stewardship of the wonderful and enigmatic Andy McKenna, where I remained until my first retirement in 2014”.

“But retirement at that time wasn’t for me and I took up another challenge with my friend and colleague Eileen Penrose, in APG Ireland under the management of Paul Weir”.

“I have enjoyed my 50+ years in travel from ferries to airlines to agencies and back to airlines again. I have travelled to all parts of the globe and met some wonderful people and made some great friends. For this I am truly grateful”.

“Now after over 50 years in travel, I now look forward to a new chapter in my life. I will enjoy what free time I have (if any!) with our first grandchild – Daisy who keeps us on our toes.

Paul signed off by asking Travelbiz to thank all of his colleagues and trade partners for your friendship, support and best wishes through the years.

I would personally like to wish Paul continued success and best wishes as he embarks on his next check in and flight to a new chapter in his life and thank him on behalf of all our readers, followers and subscribers for his great support and inclusion in all that he has done in our Industry over the years.
