Fort Lauderdale – The Venice of America

#Traveltradetogether

Jacinta from Travelbiz met with the ebullient Tracy Vaughan (Senior Vice President) and Paul Mason (Senior Manager) of Global Trade Development Fort Lauderdale in The Ivy in Dublin to promote a glittering gem in south Florida. Perhaps sometimes overshadowed by other Floridian attractions, the good news is that Fort Lauderdale no longer hides her light under a bushel. Endless sparkling inland waterways, 24 miles of golden beachfront, fabulous weather and world class tourist properties guarantees Fort Lauderdale a force to be reckoned with. A champion of diversity, the area is home to approx. 170 nationalities with as many languages and is truly accessible and proud to offer everything under the sun.

Now deemed the yachting capital of the world, Tracy and Paul told us to forget people watching (although the endless waterside restaurants and open -air cafes are tailor-made), boat envy and yacht watching is the sport in Fort Lauderdale! The Brightline fast train service along Florida’s coast makes excellent connections to Miami, Palm Springs and Orlando later this year, so connectivity is no problem. Of course, the Everglades is a huge draw for naturalists and adventure seekers too. Fort Lauderdale is looking forward to enormous cruise activity in the coming season with world class cruise companies all featuring and, with a little sprinkle of pixie dust for November 2023, the promise of the Disney Dream. The enthusiasm of the Fort Lauderdale team was infectious and we departed to spread the word, sell the holiday and plan a trip to discover the Venice of America.
