Spanish Tourist Office & Aer Lingus Fam Trip to Santiago de Compostela
If I politely told you to Take a Hike, I’d mean it sincerely. Get thee to Santiago and walk the Camino to follow the steps of St James. This staggeringly beautiful City, capital of Galicia, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aer Lingus operates direct flights from both Dublin and Cork and with flight durations of only a couple of hours, there’s no excuse.

Gastronomy in Galicia alone is worth the trip. We feasted in La Galiciana, O Dezeseis and Marketplace where baby scallops, pulpo (octopus to you and me!), croquetas, pimientos de padron, tortilla, beef ribs (even a few chips), local cheeses and excellent bread.

We visited the City of Culture too – a phenomenal structure of visionary architecture where city archives are stored; an ultra modern library, art exhibition halls and music venues indoor and outdoor are of offer. An astonishing work of art in itself, the cultural hub cost just 300 million euro!

I urge you to take to the roads and walk the Camino. I urge you just to visit Santiago and wander the streets. The Old Town is magnificent. The food is mouthwatering. The people have a great Celtic heritage, so we’re like long lost cousins!
