TAP Starts Flying to Santa Maria, Azores
TAP Air Portugal launched its new route yesterday, connecting Lisbon to the island of Santa Maria in the Azores, with the first of two weekly flights, which operate on Thursdays and Sundays.
Flights depart from Lisbon at 12:30 and arrive in Santa Maria at 14:05. In the opposite direction, the flight departs from Santa Maria at 15:15, arriving at Humberto Delgado Airport at 18:35 (local times).

The service will operate between 15 June and 15 September using an A320neo aircraft, with a capacity of 174 passengers, and for the rest of the year using an Embraer 190, with a capacity of 106 passengers.
Regarding connections to the Azores, TAP has already announced its new route between Porto and Terceira, which will launch on 1 July.

The two new routes, Lisbon–Santa Maria and Porto–Terceira, join the routes that TAP already operates from Lisbon to Ponta Delgada and to Terceira. With this new service, TAP will now offer a total of 48 weekly flights between mainland Portugal and the Azores.
TAP Air Portugal currently flies from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester airport in the UK and from Dublin in Ireland to Lisbon and Porto with onward connections to Brazil, Africa, Madeira, Azores, the USA and Canada. TAP has a stop over programme allowing passengers to stop in either Lisbon or Porto on long haul journeys for up to 10 days for no additional air fare.
