A true taste of Spain in Dublin
Master Chef Finalist, Ita Hendrick (Travelbiz Trade Partner Executive), attended a fantastic Gastro Spain: Murcia Region Gastronomy Workshop, hosted by the Spanish Tourist Office in Dublin in partnership with the Region of Murcia.

Joined by key trade and media partners, Ita experienced a fully immersive and hands-on culinary event led by Michelin-starred chef Juan Guillamón (Almo Restaurant, Murcia – 1 Michelin Star & 2 Repsol Suns).
Alongside the wonderful Spanish Tourist Office team, including Sara López and Laura Peña (Director, Spanish Tourist Office Dublin), guests were taken on a true culinary journey through one of Spain’s most exciting and authentic regions.

Hands-on experience:
Guests were kitted out with aprons and cooking kits to create traditional Murcian dishes, showcasing the region’s rich Mediterranean flavours and farm-to-table heritage.

On the menu:
• Murcian Salad with fresh oregano & smoked eel
• Marineras – a local favourite featuring Murcian salad on a crunchy bread ring topped with anchovies
• A unique dessert of fried lemon leaves, where the citrus aroma infused the batter—crispy, sweet, and unforgettable

Wine pairing:
The dishes were perfectly complemented by wines from Barahonda – Blanco Organic 2024 and Organic 2023, highlighting Murcia’s growing reputation as a quality wine destination.

Why Murcia?
Often referred to as Spain’s “orchard”, the Region of Murcia boasts year-round sunshine, exceptional local produce, and a thriving gastro scene—making it a hidden gem for Irish travellers seeking authentic food, wine, and cultural experiences.
A huge thank you to the Spanish Tourist Office and partners for such an engaging and delicious showcase of Murcia’s gastronomic offering
