Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Begins Sea Trials, One Step Closer to Summer Debut

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas set sail on the open ocean for sea trials today, marking one of the final stages before the next ultimate family vacation debuts in July 2026.

Over the course of 10 days, more than 2,000 engineers, specialists and crew will set sail to complete a comprehensive series of technical tests.

Legend will cover approximately 2,400 nautical miles, performing a series of assessments to evaluate the ship’s propulsion, navigational systems, speed, safety features and more. Once complete, Legend will return to the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, for its final construction phase before its inaugural sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy.

The Icon Class  vacation will offer 7-night Western Mediterranean adventures from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy and Barcelona, Spain, visiting idyllic destinations like Provence (Marseille), France; Naples, Italy; and Palma De Mallorca, Spain before making its grand Caribbean debut in November 2026 with 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean getaways from Fort Lauderdale, Florida with each Caribbean vacation visiting Royal Caribbean’s top-rated destination Perfect Day at CocoCay.
