Shannon Airport Celebrates Long Standing Partnership with United Airlines
Shannon Airport today hosted a special event recognising its long‑established partnership with United Airlines. This week the airline celebrated its centenary year, having first taken to the skies in 1926.
Passengers travelling on the nonstop Shannon–Newark/New York service joined the celebration, enjoying refreshments and music at their departure gate.

United Airlines has served Shannon Airport since 1998, providing vital nonstop connectivity between the west of Ireland and the United States. The partnership has grown over the years to include seasonal nonstop services to Chicago O’Hare, strengthening access to key U.S. hubs and onward connections across North America.
More than 2.5 million passengers have travelled on United services to and from Shannon via Newark/New York and Chicago, highlighting the strategic importance of these routes for tourism, business and regional development.

Speaking today, Niall Kearns, Airport Director of Shannon Airport, said; “The occasion was an opportunity to acknowledge a partnership that has delivered lasting benefits for the region. United’s services have played a crucial role in maintaining strong transatlantic links and supporting economic activity across the west of Ireland.”

The Shannon Airport Group welcomed the opportunity to celebrate the strength of its relationship with United Airlines and said it looks forward to continuing the successful collaboration in the years ahead.
