A&G Support Measures – Middle East Crisis

Following the recent escalation of conflict in the Middle East, Accident and General has issued a comprehensive advisory to clarify protections available to policyholders. While the situation remains fluid, A&G are prioritising the medical safety and logistical security of all clients currently traveling.

In a move to provide maximum reassurance, A&G has confirmed that essential protections—specifically emergency medical cover and policy extensions—remain fully active and are not subject to the standard exclusions related to war or hostilities.

Statement from Craig Donnelly, Director and co-owner of Accident & General

“The current escalation in the Middle East is a deeply worrying and uncertain time for many, particularly those currently in the region. Our principal concern is the safety of our clients, and we are committed to providing clear, actionable guidance on the coverage available under their Fairsure policies.”

“To all our clients and those affected by these events: please stay safe. We urge you to remain in close contact with your travel provider or airline to confirm your trip’s status or to explore alternative arrangements.

While we navigate these challenges, we want you to know that your medical protection remains our priority. We are standing by our customers currently abroad by extending their cover and ensuring our emergency assistance teams are fully resourced to handle any medical needs that arise.

Our thoughts are with all those impacted by these distressing events. We sincerely hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to the conflict, and that further loss of life and suffering can be avoided.

Similar to other travel insurance policies, loss relating to war or acts of war are also typically excluded under Fairsure policies.

That being said, Craig has confirmed that essential overseas medical expenses cover remains fully active. The general exclusions related to war and hostilities do not apply to the following core sections of the Fairsure policy:

  • Emergency Medical Expenses: Coverage for necessary medical treatment remains in effect as per policy terms.
  • Hospital Benefit: Support for inpatient stays continues as per policy terms.
  • Personal Accident: Protective cover for serious accidents remains in place as per policy terms.

For customers who travelled prior to the escalation, the 24/7 Emergency Assistance Service remains available to provide expert guidance and high-level case management.

Automatic Policy Extensions and Flexibility

To support those facing travel disruptions, A&G is also ensuring clients remain protected while arranging their return journeys:

  • Extended Period of Insurance: If a return home is delayed by flight cancellations or local travel restrictions, A&G will automatically extend the period of insurance for customers actively attempting to return home.
