Avalon Waterways enjoys a bumper start to 2026

Irish market continues to be a success.

2026 has begun on a high for Avalon Waterways in Ireland, with passenger numbers up 85% year-on-year during the Peaks booking period. This strong start builds on sustained booking growth throughout the travel trade in 2025.  A further increase can be seen in bookings of Panorama Suites which are up to 84% of all bookings from the Irish market. An increase of +36% year-on-year.

The importance to the travel trade to Avalon Waterways cannot be overstated as commented by Phil Shipman, UK and Ireland Sales Director for Avalon Waterways, “Within Ireland we continue to be thrilled with the bookings made by our travel agent partners, and we are hugely grateful for the way they bring our unique cruising experience to life for their customers. The trend towards our spacious Panorama Suites which are 30% larger than the industry standard is also testament to the increased popularity and knowledge of Avalon Waterways and growing loyal customer base found within the Irish market. Travel agents are central to our success, and we’re excited to continue working together.”

Bookings have been recorded across all rivers and the two dozen countries in which Avalon operates, with the Rhine, Rhône and Bordeaux itineraries among the strongest performers. Flight-inclusive pricing across a range of iconic cruises and destinations is also proving particularly popular with guests.

Plus, for Irish travel agents, the onboard credit offer and booking incentive continues – all new Avalon Waterways bookings made until 31st March 2026 for 2026 sailings will receive €100 onboard credit per person. And for every Avalon Waterways cruise booked, travel agents in Ireland continue to be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a European river cruise for two in 2026.

Guests on Avalon’s cruises enjoy an all-inclusive experience, with full-board dining, complimentary regional wine and beer at mealtimes, soft drinks, a ‘happy hour’ with complimentary drinks, as well as included excursions and gratuities. Dining options range from elegant four-course meals in the main dining room with flexible seating, to informal light bites and the Sky Grill, offering an exceptional outdoor barbecue experience.

With its unparalleled service, innovative suite design including river’s only Open-Air balconies, and immersive itineraries, Avalon Waterways continues to redefine river cruising for Irish travellers.
