Spanish Tourist office sustainability conference
Travelbiz attended an evening of knowledge, learning, great ideas and huge positivity – a conference on sustainability on November 13th in Dublin. Perfectly organised by the Spanish Tourist Office in Dublin and expertly moderated by Eoghan Corry, this meeting of minds put me in mind of COP30 (Belem, Brazil) as our conference dovetailed nicely with efforts to reduce carbon and stay green within the travel industry.

Two panels comprising Clare Dunne (CEO ITAA), Mary Denton (CEO Sunway), Juan Jose Gonzalez (Paradores) and Abigail Siguenza (Madrid Dentro); the other was Peres Granados (Mayor of Salou), Natalia Boveda (Costa del Sol Tourism), Ken Lyons (CIE International) and Pat Neville (Coillte) all offered superb insights and opinions and advice on travel issues going forward.

Diego Juarez offered an insight into Spain’s excellent transport network – Spain by Train. Donal Moriarty (Aer Lingus) advised us of the new fleet of aircraft on offer from the national airline and the massive efforts to reduce emissions. Lara Pena (Director Spanish TO) gave a warm welcome speech and the honorary Irishman, Antonio Martin Machuca closed the conference to emphasise love of Costa del Sol and his empathy with Irish holidaymakers.

Her Excellency, Maria Teresa Lizaranzu Perinat (Ambassador to Ireland) presented several awards for promoting Spain and, of course, sustainability.
