Spanish National Day
Travelbiz joined Spain to celebrate its National Day on October 10th in the Ballroom of Riu Plaza The Gresham Hotel on Dublin’s O’Connell Street. Celebrated with the usual Spanish flair and verve, the event was hugely attended and the atmosphere in the room was electric. Many of Ireland’s politicians were at the event and an eclectic mix of guests mingled through the crowds.

Ireland’s new Spanish Ambassador, Her Excellency Maria Teresa Lizaranzu Perinat, welcomed all guests on arrival and then gave a gracious speech outlining her pleasure at her new appointment. She earnestly vowed to continue the excellent work of her predecessors and to foster and kindle the already superb relations between our two nations.

Sponsors of the evening included Avant Money, Oyesa, Group Elecnor, Grifols, Idom and Indra Group and the Spanish Embassy acknowledged their vital support. Tony Brazil (Limerick Travel) was in attendance and his role as Spanish Vice-Consul in Limerick acknowledged where he served for over 30 years before being awarded the Order of Isabella civil honour in June 2024 for his contributions to Spanish tourism.

Kathryn Mc Donnell (Spanish Tourist Office Dublin) joined me on the evening to work the room! A highlight of the event was the live performance by ‘Salsa Brava’ which had the room rocking and, of course, the amazing food – tapas of tortilla and gazpacho and an incredible showcase of Jamon Serrano being expertly sliced by master craftsmen.
