Irish ski racers take to the slopes of Kilternan – for International Dry Slope Races

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October 2025 – Ski Club of Ireland Kilternan, Co.Dublin – with teams from NI, England, Scotland and Wales.

The fastest skiers from England, Wales and Scotland are coming to the Ski Club of Ireland in Kilternan, Co. Dublin to compete against the best Irish ski racers in the Irish Ski Championships on the 4th and the 5th October for a weekend of high-octane competition and fun joined by some great young skiers from Northern Ireland.

With the valued support of Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council and The Snowsports Association of Ireland, this long-established event is the highlight of the Irish ski racing calender as well as being one of the major events in the dry slope ski racing season in these islands.

Taking place in a family friendly atmosphere in the foothills of the Dublin/Wicklow Mountains, there will be top-class racing across the weekend.  There will be over 80 skiers participating ranging in age from 8 year’s old to “hardened race pros” who maybe should know better!

Cormac Comerford, Ireland’s top ski racer, will be there as he continues his preparation to towards qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Also taking part are the Hayes brothers, nine-year old Oscar and 8 year-old Dylan from Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. Oscar and Dylan are already no strangers to the winner’s podium having competed with great success at race events across the water throughout the summer.

One of the most anticipated events of the weekend’s racing is the International Parallel Slalom where teams from Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland will fight it out for the coveted Team trophy. The Parallel Slalom involves two teams of six each, made up of male and females racers, going through two parallel courses of slalom gates in a head-to-head knock out relay race.

“It’s going to be really exciting to watch our young skiers take on some of the best ski racers from England, Wales and Scotland in the team event” says Conor Columb, Youth Race Squad Coach.

The Ski Club of Ireland Kilternan, is a totally voluntary organisation, and last season celebrated 60 years – 50 of those on the slopes of Kilternan!
