Ireland’s landscape proves to be a hit with stars of ‘Wednesday’

#Traveltradetogether

Tourism Ireland unveils behind-the-scenes films as new season of ‘Wednesday’ premieres on Netflix.

Ireland’s magical landscape provides the perfect backdrop for the highly anticipated season two of Wednesday, which will premiere on Netflix today (6 August) to audiences across the world.

The latest season of the mystery show was shot at various locations around counties Wicklow, Dublin and Offaly. Executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar called the filming locations “truly magical” – a fitting tribute to settings that include Powerscourt Demesne in Enniskerry, Charleville Castle in County Offaly and Dublin’s atmospheric Deansgrange Cemetery.

With around 24% of overseas audiences saying they use TV shows and films as a source of travel inspiration, Tourism Ireland went behind the scenes with Netflix to create two short films, giving fans a glimpse into the making of season two. Cast members Jenna Ortega, Joanna Lumley, Luis Guzmán and Joy Sunday share their favourite moments filming in Ireland – from the scenery to the warm welcome. The behind-the-scenes films will be shared with Tourism Ireland’s global community on social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok, inspiring Wednesday fans and potential holidaymakers to come and visit the filming locations for themselves. Elmagh Killeen, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Brand and Marketing Communications, said: “Wednesday has been a hit with viewers around the world, reaching the top 10 on Netflix in 93 countries and achieving the accolade of third most watched series ever on the platform. We’re pleased to take viewers behind the scenes with the stars to special locations in Ireland where series two was filmed. Our stunning landscape provides the perfect backdrop for this popular show and is sure to inspire fans to come and see the filming locations for themselves.

“We’re grateful to our partners in Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen who help to support inspiring productions on this island.”

Commenting on filming here, Executive Producer Miles Millar said: “Coming back to Ireland to shoot season two felt like a homecoming – we have beautiful castles, we have the lush greens.”

Jenna Ortega, who plays the lead role in Wednesday, said: “My favourite thing is just how kind the people were.”

Luis Guzmán, who plays Gomez Addams in Wednesday, said: “The landscape here is sensational, so beautiful, so nostalgic.”
