HOTELS

o   Following a complete renovation and restoration, the famed hotel is projected to reopen this spring featuring its restored historic public and event spaces along with private residences and 375 large guest rooms and suites, helmed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and renowned interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Hotel guests will have the opportunity to indulge in the Guerlain Wellness Spa, a 30,000-square-foot spa offering a sanctuary of relaxation for locals, residents and guests alike. Guests can also enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center and culinary offerings from acclaimed chef Michael Anthony and renowned mixologist Jeff Bell. The restored property will also feature a 43,000-square-foot opera-inspired grand ballroom.

o   Westin’s newest NYC property allows guests easy access to the award-winning LaGuardia Airport as well as to nearby attractions such as Citi Field and Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The hotel also includes upscale amenities and world-class dining at its Japanese fusion restaurant, sushi bar and lounge.

o   The 120-room property will overlook a section of the High Line and offer amenities such as a Tierra Santa Healing House spa, nightlife programming and a restaurant by Argentine chef Francis Mallmann.

o   Visible along the Bryant Park skyline, this new 42-story luxury hotel will feature panoramic views of NYC across 173 rooms, a rooftop bar and restaurant, a plaza and an arcade.

o   The only green development of its kind in Flushing, this 202-room hotel will highlight sustainability and environmentally conscious features. Guests can also enjoy an indoor courtyard, rooftop bar, restaurant, spa and gym facilities.

o   This 33-story hotel will make its debut in 2026 at Rockefeller Center, offering a bird’s eye view of the iconic plaza below. With coveted views of the city skyline, the hotel will feature 529 guest rooms, two full-service restaurants, a lobby lounge, and a rooftop bar. Guests can also enjoy a fitness center and two spaces for meetings and social gatherings.

ARTS & CULTURE

Expansions & Openings

o   The Bronx Music Hall is the new permanent home of WHEDco’s Bronx Music Heritage Center and serves as a performance venue and cultural center celebrating Bronx music, dance, theater and arts. It features a theater, exhibit hall, classrooms and an outdoor plaza, continuing its mission to preserve Bronx music and provide free community programs.

o   The Michael C. Rockefeller Wing at The Met, home to African, Ancient American and Oceanic art, is undergoing a transformative renovation to reimagine these collections for modern audiences. Updates include enhanced gallery spaces, increased natural light and new installations that celebrate the unique histories, cultural movements and artistry of these world traditions. The galleries had been closed to the public since 2021 and reopened in May 2025.

o   The Frick Collection has reopened at its historic Fifth Avenue mansion following a multiyear renovation. The transformed space now includes 27,000 square feet of new construction, offering an enhanced visitor experience. For the first time, the second floor of the original Frick residence is open to the public, showcasing new perspectives on the museum’s celebrated collection.

o   The historic cabaret venue Laurie Beechman Theatre has reopened following a renovation by Tony Award–winning scenic designer and architect David Rockwell.

o   The revitalized Public Theater will reopen with Twelfth Night, starring Lupita Nyong’o, Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sandra Oh. The major investment will dramatically improve the home of Free Shakespeare in the Park, addressing critical infrastructure, accessibility and theatrical needs.

o   The Jewish Museum is unveiling reimagined collection galleries and a new learning center in its most significant architectural upgrade in over 30 years. Featuring more than 200 works, thematic displays, a dramatic Hanukkah lamp installation and expanded educational spaces, the renovation deepens the museum’s mission to explore Jewish identity and cultural exchange through art.

o   The Studio Museum in Harlem will open its new purpose-built home featuring extensive exhibition and public spaces designed to serve artists and the Harlem community. To mark the opening, the museum will present a comprehensive showcase of Tom Lloyd’s artwork, alongside a historical installation from its permanent collection spanning over two centuries of art by artists of African descent.

o   The New Museum is undergoing a 60,000-square-foot expansion, the first since opening its doors in 2007. The seven-story addition will double the museum’s exhibition spaces and feature a new public plaza that will be home to art installations, performances and gatherings. The museum will reopen with an OMA-designed zero-waste restaurant in 2025.

 National Urban League’s Urban Civil Rights Museum | Harlem, Manhattan | 2026

o   The museum, which will be housed in National Urban League’s new Harlem headquarters, the Urban League Empowerment Center, will be the first dedicated to the American Civil Rights Movement and one of the only museums in the nation to delve into the movement in the North.

o   Located just south of Yankee Stadium, this space will pay homage to the South Bronx’s rich culture and history as the birthplace of hip-hop (see Bronx Point in the Neighborhood Investments section below.)

Cultural Exhibitions, Festivals & Performances

o   To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Frederick Phineas and Sandra Priest Rose Center for Earth and Space, the American Museum of Natural History has opened a new Hayden Planetarium Space Show, Encounters in the Milky Way. Narrated by the actor Pedro Pascal, the show uses groundbreaking data from the Gaia mission to explore the cosmic forces shaping our galaxy in an immersive, visually stunning journey through space and time.

o   A Billion Dollar Dream celebrates the 60th anniversary of the 1964–1965 New York World’s Fair by examining its legacy through social, political and environmental lenses. Featuring materials from the Queens Museum’s collection, the exhibition highlights the fair’s promotion of progress and nationhood while reflecting contemporary issues, including civil rights and the women’s liberation movement.

o   Young Joon Kwak’s RESISTERHOOD explores bodies in transition through molds and imprints, blending intimacy with anonymity. Featuring neon sculptures, a soundscape and works from the past decade, the exhibition celebrates queer and trans resistance, embracing imperfection, ambiguity and playful erotics.

o   Celebrating its 200th anniversary, the Brooklyn Museum presents Breaking the Mold, an exhibition in three chapters showcasing its legacy of imaginative storytelling and bold conversations. Featuring Brooklyn-made art, the museum’s history and bicentennial gifts from celebrated artists, the exhibition highlights the evolution of its collection while exploring fresh narratives that reflect a dynamic and changing world.

o   Amy Sherald: American Sublime showcases Sherald’s vibrant portraits of everyday Black Americans, blending realism and imagination to celebrate individuality and reframe American identity. The exhibition includes her iconic portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama alongside intimate, contemplative works that expand the American Realist tradition to honor overlooked histories and Black interiority.

o   Above Ground explores NYC’s graffiti movement from its street origins in the 1970s to its evolution into gallery and museum art. Featuring works by pioneers like Rammellzee, Lee Quiñones, Lady Pink and Futura 2000, the exhibition showcases pieces from the museum’s graffiti collection, donated by artist Martin Wong.

o   Vermeer’s Love Letters marks the debut exhibition in The Frick Collection’s new special galleries, uniting three iconic Vermeer paintings—Mistress and Maid, The Love Letter and Woman Writing a Letter, with Her Maid—to explore themes of intimacy, communication and domestic life through letter writing. With two major loans joining Mistress and Maid from the Frick’s collection, plus five Vermeer paintings at The Met and two others also on view at The Frick, New York City will temporarily host 10 Vermeers—about one-third of his known works—making this a rare and extraordinary moment for art lovers.

o   To celebrate the reopening of The Delacorte Theater, The Public Theater is showcasing more than 60 years of Free Shakespeare in the Park with a special installation at The New York Historical. Highlights include James Earl Jones’ costume as Claudius from the 1972 Hamlet, designed by Tony Award–winner Theoni V. Aldredge, along with her original costume sketches.

o   Gardens of Renewal is a project by artist Lily Kwong and Madison Square Park Conservancy that explores climate change and ecological healing through two immersive landscapes. The Meditation Garden features rare native plants along a spiral path for reflection, while the Children’s Garden offers play structures, performances and programming to inspire environmental awareness.

o   Beatriz Milhazes: Rigor and Beauty showcases 15 works by the Brazilian artist, highlighting her vibrant abstract compositions influenced by cultural motifs, modernist traditions and her innovative “monotransfer” technique. This first Guggenheim exhibition of her work traces her evolution from 1995 to 2023, blending bold colors, geometric patterns and elements of chance.

o   A Lively Mind: Jane Austen at 250 explores Austen’s journey from aspiring teenage writer to literary icon, highlighting her creative pursuits, family support and the enduring appeal of her work. Featuring rare artifacts, manuscripts and editions from international collections, the exhibition offers fresh insights into Austen’s authorship, personal style and evolving legacy.

o   Breakdown: The Promise of Decay explores the vibrancy of decay, highlighting time, waste and the unseen forces shaping ecosystems. Featuring art, objects and science, it examines decomposition’s role and contrasts biodegradable elements like fungi with enduring microplastics to encourage valuing the invisible world.

o   The Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, explores 300 years of Black style through the lens of dandyism, tracing its roots to the 18th-century Atlantic world shaped by colonialism and the slave trade. Featuring fashion, art and artifacts, the exhibition examines how self-presentation has served as both a form of identity and resistance within the contexts of race, gender, class and sexuality.

o   Arthur Jafa brings his singular vision to MoMA’s Artist’s Choice series with Less Is Morbid, an exhibition of nearly 100 works from the museum’s collection that reflect on paradigm shifts in modern art, especially through the lens of Black life, makers and cultural history. Through intuitive, emotionally charged selections and unexpected juxtapositions across generations and mediums, Jafa reimagines how art, film and music intertwine to explore themes of identity, emancipation and transformation.

o   MoMA PS1 will present the first US exhibition of Korean artist Ayoung Kim, featuring her full Delivery Dancer trilogy alongside a major new project. Blending generative AI, video game engines and live-action footage, Kim’s immersive video installations explore speculative narratives that interrogate labor, technology and identity across shifting geopolitical and mythological landscapes.

o   Apex, one of the largest and most complete Stegosaurus fossils ever found, is now on display in the Kenneth C. Griffin Exploration Atrium. Discovered in 2022 near the town of Dinosaur, Colorado, the 150-million-year-old specimen measures 27 feet long and 11.5 feet tall.

ANNUAL CELEBRATIONS, BIG EVENTS & ANNIVERSARIES

 Brooklyn Museum 200th Anniversary | Prospect Heights, Brooklyn | 2024–26

o   The Brooklyn Museum kicked off celebrations of its 200th anniversary with its Birthday Bash in October. The program was the first of several events and exhibitions that will continue throughout 2026.

o   The annual NYC Pride March stands as one of the world’s largest, drawing tens of thousands of participants and millions of spectators along the sidewalks annually.

o   The Flatiron NoMad Partnership proudly presents Start With Love: PRIDE in Flatiron NoMad, the district’s most expansive Pride celebration yet. Throughout June, the initiative honors the area’s deep LGBTQIA+ roots with vibrant public art, performances and support for queer-owned businesses—culminating in the NYC Pride March kickoff at 26th Street and Fifth Avenue.

o   Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Club World Cup, which will feature 32 teams playing across the US this summer. New York City/New Jersey will host the final, three knockout ties and five group-stage matches. The five group-stage matches will take place on June 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23 with the quarterfinals taking place on July 5, the semifinals on July 8–9 and the final on July 13.

o   The US Open Tennis Championships is one of four grand slam tennis events of the year, held annually at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens.

o   Known as the world’s largest HBCU homecoming and a celebration of HBCU culture and tradition, the fourth annual game will feature a matchup between Morehouse College and Howard University at MetLife Stadium.

  • Ryder Cup | New York City Metropolitan Area | September 23–28, 2025

o   The Ryder Cup is a prestigious biannual golf competition pitting teams from Europe and the US against each other in a fiercely contested match-play format.

o   The world’s largest marathon will return to New York City this fall.

o   New York City Tourism + Conventions’ new, immersive tourism campaign, Founded By NYC, will celebrate 400 years of NYC in 2025 and 250 years of America in 2026, highlighting enduring contributions to the City and the US by notable New Yorkers. The campaign will focus on inclusivity, acknowledgment and education, sharing the important perspectives of marginalized audiences including those of the Indigenous community, women, LGBTQ+ folks and people of color. Businesses are invited to submit their NYC 400 events here.

o   FIFA has announced New York/New Jersey as the host city for the 2026 World Cup final. In addition to the final game on July 19, New York/New Jersey will host games on June 13, June 16, June 22, June 25, June 27, June 30 and July 5.

o   One of golf’s four major championships, the U.S. Open is known for its challenging courses and rigorous competition among the world’s top players.

  • Sail4th 250 | New York City & New Jersey | July 3–9, 2026

o   NYC and New Jersey will host the capstone events to kick off the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence. From July 3–9, the largest-ever international flotilla of ships and vessels will sail into New York Harbor. The celebration will also host many festivities including firework displays by Macy’s, an International Aerial Review with a special performance from the Blue Angels, food festivals, a special Fleet Week and more.

o   NYC, along with the state of New Jersey, will be the host city for the Army-Navy Football Game Presented by USAA in 2026. The game will be hosted at the MetLife Stadium as part of the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and will be the 19th time the game has been played in New York or New Jersey.

ATTRACTIONS, TOURS & RECREATION

o   The newly reimagined Pier 97 has opened in Hudson River Park, featuring a sprawling playground with a 26-foot climbing structure, an athletic field and a scenic promenade. Highlights also include a sunset deck with stunning Hudson River views, surrounded by 16,000 square feet of vibrant flowers and plants.

o   Skylift at Top of the Rock lifts visitors nearly 900 feet above the City for unparalleled 360-degree views. Perched atop the 70th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the open-air, revolving platform adds three stories to the observation deck, offering the sensation of floating among the City’s skyscrapers. Part of Rockefeller Center’s recent revitalization, Skylift features an LED light show that illuminates the skyline, celebrating the iconic art deco architecture.

o   One Times Square, home of the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball, is reopening this fall as a year-round destination for immersive entertainment and celebrations. A highlight is Times Travel, a multilevel experience that guides visitors through the history of the building, Times Square and the Ball Drop tradition—culminating in panoramic views from a dedicated viewing deck. Additional attractions include the Crystal VIP Experience, Ever for intimate ceremonies and NextGen’s interactive fandom space—all part of a $500 million transformation in the heart of New York City.

o   This tour is a 2.75-hour eco-cruise aboard the yacht Manhattan II through New York Harbor. Guided by expert naturalists, it features views of iconic landmarks like Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazzano Bridge while exploring the winter wildlife and rich history of Hoffman and Swinburne Islands, along with the Brooklyn Waterfront and Buttermilk Channel.

o   Extend the excitement of Broadway with Broadway After Dark, a signature post-show experience by Drag Experiences. Designed for theatergoers seeking more than just a curtain call, this elevated nightlife offering begins with a curated drag queen meetup directly outside the theater. From there, guests are guided through Hell’s Kitchen for a dynamic evening featuring welcome cocktails, exclusive access to renowned nightlife venues and surprise live performances.

o   Explore the West Village on a bagel-themed walking tour that highlights New York City’s most buzzed-about spots, including PopUp Bagels, Edith’s Sandwich Counter and Apollo Bagels. Along the way, enjoy unique bites like tahini coffee slushies and sourdough bagels while learning the fascinating history of the iconic New York bagel.

o   The Central Park Conservancy has introduced two new guided tours showcasing the park’s scenic north end. Hidden Highlights of the North End, which launched in late May, explores the area’s historic landscape and architectural features, while Central Park Woodland Walk: The North Woods debuts in late June and offers an immersive experience through a lush, tranquil woodland inspired by the Catskills and Adirondacks.

o   Circle Line is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a year of special events and new offerings, including throwback pricing, nostalgic cruises and the launch of new themed experiences like the Sip ‘N Groove evening cruise. A highlight of the celebration is the debut of the BEAST’RO in summer 2025—a food, drink and merch destination exclusive to guests of Circle Line Cruises and the BEAST Speedboat, located at Pier 81 and designed as the ultimate pre- and post-cruise hangout.

o   The New York City Tourism + Conventions signature program runs biannually, offering deals on lunches and dinners at participating restaurants. The winter program will take place July 21 through August 17.

o   Fifteen years after its original location opened, Locanda Verde, a popular Italian restaurant beloved by Taylor Swift, Meghan Markle and other celebrities will debut a second location at Hudson Yards. The new spot is backed by Robert De Niro in partnership with chef Andrew Carmellini, Luke Ostrom and Josh Pickard.

o   The halal-certified Korean fried chicken stand is continuing to expand its beloved fried offerings with a new location at the Bronx Terminal Market inside its Boogie Down Food Hall.

  • Mori Mori | Dumbo, Brooklyn | December 2024

o   Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s first-ever hand roll concept made its debut in Dumbo in December. The James Beard nominee and Iron Chef star’s new restaurant is located within the Time Out Market, offering Japanese cuisine inspired by Morimoto’s tenured career.

  • Puran Dhaka | Jackson Heights, Queens | December 2024

o   A staple in Jackson Heights for Bangladeshi fare since 2016, this beloved food cart now has a sit-down spot located inside King Wah, a Chinese restaurant. Patrons can enjoy an array of menu items including byer barir roast pulao and shami kebab.

o   XO, short for “Xotchitl,” which translates to “flowers” in Spanish, recently opened its doors in Staten Island. The new restaurants serve authentic Mexican fare with a modern twist, offering dishes such as tetelas with queso fresco, lobster toastada, tres leches tonka beans and more.

o   Located in a Stapleton, this new restaurant is offering Mediterranean fare. Signature dishes include New Zealand lamb chops, mezze platter, 28-day dry aged ribeye, beef short rib and cauliflower steak.

o   The chef behind Tatiana, Kwame Onwuachi, recently opened a new fast casual restaurant inside Citi Field. The new food stand features a flaky curry chicken patty served on coco bread and topped with ginger cabbage slaw, green seasoning aioli and jerk BBQ sauce. Onwuachi also plans to open a food truck version of Patty Palace near Tatiana this summer.

  • Kabawa | Nolita, Manhattan | March 2025

o   Chef Paul Carmichael new restaurant is an homage to Caribbean cuisine. The restaurant, a part of the Momofuku restaurant group, offers a range of dishes including pepper shrimp, mushroom pastel, cassava dumplings, “jerk” duck sausage and more.

o   Yankee Stadium recently announced a slew of new food vendors for fans to enjoy this baseball season. The new lineup includes:

  • Bondi Sushi, a New York based chain operating a full sushi station at the stadium including sashimi, hand rolls and crispy rice. The restaurant is available to guests who purchase Audi Club tickets or make reservations for a pregame meal.
  • Caribbean Food Delights, a Bronx-born food company serving Jamaican fare. Yankees fans can indulge in either an original or stuffed beef patty with jerk barbecue aioli and cilantro lime slaw as they watch a game.
  • Change-Up Kitchen, Legends Hospitality’s latest offering featuring an array of dishes including lobster rolls, porchetta sandwiches and pastrami sandwiches. Guests can also enjoy empanadas from Nunchas.
  • Mae Mae Café, Greater Performances’ plant-based, Latin-inspired café serving mouthwatering vegan and vegetarian dishes for baseball fans looking for a healthy option.

o   This new sandwich shop in Astoria is offering sandwiches made with sourdough bread and dishes fried in beef tallow such as vodka chicken parm, Philly cheesesteaks, fries and more.

  • Binondo | Chinatown, Manhattan | May 2025

o   This new restaurant is bringing the energy and taste of Manila’s lively food scene to the heart of Manhattan. Serving Filipino Chinese cuisine, chef Elvis Robles has curated a menu featuring standout items such as egg drop soup, steamed pork, shrimp dumping, beef salpicão and more.

o   A beloved farmers’ market stand turned pop-up bakery has finally found a permanent home for its fan-favorite Portuguese eggs tarts. Guests can also enjoy the delicious pastries with a cup of Variety coffee.

 Convene 360 Madison Avenue Expansion | Midtown Manhattan | April 2025

o   Convene’s newest premium meeting, event and flexible office space offers an additional 22,500+ square feet in the heart of Manhattan. The expansion includes five meeting rooms in addition to a 13-person boardroom, two gallery spaces, three event rooms and a conference hall that can accommodate up to 210 individuals.

o   Opening this summer, the new Convene 30 Hudson Yards venue will span 72,000 square feet and offer breathtaking views of the City’s iconic skyline. At the top of one of the City’s well-known towers, this spot will feature 10 event spaces including a 780-person grand hall.

  • Telfar | Soho, Manhattan | November 2024

o   The brand behind the beloved Shopping Bag—or affectionately known as the “Bushwick Birkin”—opened the doors to its first-ever flagship store in Soho on the corner of Canal and Broadway. The space features a TV studio in the center of the store where shoppers can shoot their own content and can be displayed on digital screens throughout the store, a bag bar and an area for the brand’s ready-to-wear designs.

o   The popular brand by Kim Kardashian opened its flagship store on Fifth Avenue, after a successful pop-up at Rockefeller Center.

  • Maimoun | Williamsburg, Brooklyn | December 2024

o   Launched in 2016, this womenswear boutique’s first-ever permanent store is home to unique, independent brands such as Rave Review and Julia Heuer.

o   Aritzia unveiled its latest flagship located only a block away from its original Fifth Avenue store. Nearly three times larger than the previous location, the new flagship highlights the retailer’s commitment to expanding in NYC and across the US. Shoppers can enjoy a unique experience as the store is outfitted with two A-OK Cafes, including one serving gourmet soft-serve ice cream with views of Rockefeller Center.

o   The Italian luxury brand recently opened its store in the Meatpacking District, bringing a piece of Italy to NYC. The store features a customization station where customers can customize products, and have gifts wrapped as well as enjoy a cup of coffee or a sweet treat from their Con Amore Cart.

o   UK record store Rough Trade has opened a second location at Rockefeller Center, named Rough Trade Below. The new store has a greater focus on used vinyl, a marketplace for customers to sell their own items, as well as a space for live performances and events.

o   Madison Avenue smells a little sweeter thanks to the new addition of French perfumery Parfums de Marly. The new boutique offers an immersive experience for the olfactory obsessed, inviting guests to take part in a virtual reality experience to explore the world of Parfums de Marly.

o   Phase 2 of the project will extend the Q subway line, delivering service to East Harlem and Harlem with the creation of stations on Second Avenue at 106th and 116th Streets, as well as a third new station at 125th Street and Lexington Avenue that will connect to the 4/5/6 subway line and Metro-North Railroad.
