Finnair soars with inaugural flight to its most northerly destination, Kirkenes

Finnair has today launched a new route to Kirkenes in Northern Norway – the only scheduled international flight to the airport, opening the region up to customers from the UK and Ireland.

Kirkenes offers a brand-new route for Finnair and is the most northerly destination offered by the flag carrier of Finland.

Located 400 miles north of the Arctic Circle and situated at the beginning of the Siberian Taiga, Kirkenes is one of the best destinations to experience the midnight sun during the summer months. when the sun does not dip below the horizon, and to allow guests to experience midsummer in the far north.

Kirkenes, also known as King Crab City, is bordered by the Arctic Ocean and is also the starting point for Hurtigruten’s famous Arctic cruises.

The flight has been timed to allow for connections from the UK and Ireland, with transfers from as little as 40 minutes in Helsinki. In the United Kingdom, Finnair flies year-round from London Heathrow, Manchester, and Edinburgh to Helsinki. Finnair operates six daily flights from London up to Helsinki, alongside double daily flights from Manchester and up to seven weekly flights from Edinburgh.

To celebrate the launch of flights Finnair is offering a sale to customers looking to travel to Kirkenes, with prices starting from £169 one-way, including all taxes and charges.
