Emirates Cabin Crew Recruitment Returns to Ireland – Meet Irish Crew Member Asia O’Brien
Irish Team Member Gives Insider Glimpse of Life in Dubai.
Emirates returns to Ireland this April to recruit new cabin crew members, with Open Days taking place in Cork on Monday, April 28th at the Clayton Hotel Silver Springs, and in Dublin on Wednesday, April 30th at the Hilton Dublin, Charlemont Place. In advance of the events, Asia O’Brien, an Irish Emirates cabin crew member from County Clare, is offering a unique glimpse into life in Dubai and what it’s really like to work at 40,000 feet. From globe-trotting layovers to building friendships with colleagues from over 148 nationalities, Asia’s experience shines a light on the exciting, fast-paced world of international aviation and why she believes it’s one of the most rewarding careers out there.
From Maldives to Tokyo and New York
Asia’s week as cabin crew takes her to some of the most sought-after destinations in the world. From the pristine beaches of the Maldives and Seychelles to the bustling streets of Tokyo and New York, she is constantly on the move, offering impeccable service to Emirates passengers while exploring some of the world’s most iconic cities.
Each flight brings a new adventure and an opportunity to experience different cultures. “Flying with Emirates is not just about serving passengers, it’s about connecting with people from all walks of life and immersing myself in the vibrant destinations we visit,” Asia shares. “This week, I’m flying to Bali, a destination that’s been on my bucket list for years! With a 24-hour layover, I’m planning to make the most of it by visiting some of the island’s beautiful temples, unwinding on the beach, and enjoying dinners out with fellow crew members.”
Days Off Spent in Style
When her shifts are over, Asia takes full advantage of her days off. Whether it’s unwinding in the gym or enjoying a day out with fellow cabin crew members, she ensures her time off is spent exploring the best that each city has to offer. From dining at trendy restaurants to enjoying the lively atmosphere at beach clubs, Asia knows how to make the most of her time in each location.
Her friendships with fellow crew members often extend beyond the crew quarters, with shared meals, sightseeing adventures, and downtime spent making memories in new cities. It’s this camaraderie and support that makes life as a flight attendant even more special. “I currently live with two fellow cabin crew members, and we’ve become great friends. Just last week, we explored the iconic Burj Khalifa and spent an unforgettable day dune bashing and go-karting in the Dubai desert.”
Helping a Friend Back Home
Despite her global lifestyle, Asia remains closely connected to Ireland. Recently, she supported a friend preparing for the Emirates Open Day, offering both practical advice and a personal glimpse into what life is really like as a cabin crew member in Dubai.
“Many people don’t know what to expect from the job or what life in Dubai might actually be like,” she explains. “There can be a lot of misconceptions, but I was able to help my friend feel more prepared by not only walking her through the Open Day process, but also sharing what day-to-day life is like here. Dubai is one of the safest, most diverse, and exciting cities in the world. It’s such a vibrant place to live, and being able to offer that perspective was really rewarding.”
Her insights went beyond the application stage, providing her friend with confidence about relocating and embracing the opportunity.
Asia adds: “My advice for anyone attending the Open Day is to arrive on time, bring all the required documents, and most importantly smile and be confident. This role is all about people. Showing your warmth, professionalism, and ability to connect really makes a difference. Be yourself and let your personality shine through.”
