Aer Lingus Partners with SignLive to Enhance Customer Assistance Accessibility

#Traveltradetogether

Aer Lingus has partnered with SignLive to provide additional assistance to customers who use Irish Sign Language (ISL) and British Sign Language (BSL).

The service can easily be accessed through an app or through the SignLive website.

Aer Lingus has partnered with SignLive to offer a video relay service for users of Irish Sign Language (ISL) and British Sign Language (BSL). This partnership aims to enhance the accessibility of customer services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing customers.

The SignLive service can be easily accessed through an app or website. It enables customers who use Irish Sign Language and British Sign Language to contact Aer Lingus’ customer service team using a video relay service provided by SignLive. Through the SignLive app or website, customers will be connected to a qualified interpreter, who will then relay the conversation between the caller and a member of the Aer Lingus customer care team.

To use this service, customers can download the SignLive app or visit the SignLive website. Once registered, users will be able to navigate to Aer Lingus and call the team. This partnership reflects Aer Lingus’ ongoing commitment to inclusivity and providing accessible customer assistance to all customers.

Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus Chief Customer Officer, said: “SignLive is an important new assistance tool that underpins Aer Lingus’ commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity for all our customers. The introduction of SignLive ensures that our customers who use Irish Sign Language and British Sign Language have more options when seeking assistance. This is the latest step we’re taking to ensure that all customers can engage with our customer care team and access the support they need.”

SignLive UK General Manager, Steph Lotz said: “I am proud to see Aer Lingus partner with SignLive to offer remote BSL and ISL interpreting. This bold step reinforces our commitment to breaking down barriers and creating truly inclusive travel experiences. Together, let’s transform lives through conversations, empowering deaf travellers to explore the world with confidence and ease.”

SignLive is available to Irish Sign Language users Monday to Friday 09:00- 17:00. This service can be scheduled by request. Irish Census (2022) figures show that 233,420 people, or 5% of the population, reported experiencing deafness or a hearing impairment to any extent.*

How to Access SignLive:

Using SignLive is simple and convenient. Customers can:

  • Download the SignLive app from the App Store or Google Play
  • Access the service through a web browser
  • Find Aer Lingus in the app or on website and complete a one-time registration process for account setup and callback facilitation, if needed.
