Emirates & Voya announce partnership expansion with new product launch

Emirates and VOYA announce expansion of partnership with launch of exclusive fragrance range.

Emirates has unveiled a new collaboration with the Irish brand renowned for spearheading organic luxury, VOYA. Emirates customers travelling in Business and First Class can now enjoy VOYA’s first-ever Eau de Toilette fragrances, exclusively developed for the world’s largest international airline.

The partnership dates back to 2016 when VOYA, which was started by a husband and wife team Mark and Kira Walton in Strandhill, Sligo was selected by Emirates from thousands of international brands to supply the airline with a bespoke range of beauty and skincare products.

According to Anita Thomas, Emirates country manager, Ireland, this is a remarkable achievement for a small Irish company and a wonderful example of the impact an indigenous Irish business can have globally. “Today’s launch is a demonstration of what can happen when passion and ambition meet industry leadership and innovation,” said Anita Thomas. “The VOYA collaboration is an inspiring illustration of how a brand from a town of just 2,000 people can succeed on the international stage, when working with a global partner that connects nearly 52 million customers across 140 markets each year. Emirates chooses only the most premium, luxury products for our customers and as a result of this ever-evolving partnership, VOYA has become synonymous with world-class luxury travel.”

Featuring on 400 flights each day across the Emirates network, the airline will commission  hundreds of thousands of 50ml bottles of the new VOYA Eau de Toilette fragrances every year.

When East meets West: To develop the signature fragrances, Emirates and VOYA examined international and industry trends to create scents representative of both brands, embodying Ireland’s natural beauty in tandem with the rich aromas of the Middle East.

Inspired by the global nature of Emirates and its international customer base, the natural essential oils used in the scents are derived from a myriad of destinations and the design of the bottle is inspired by an iconic travel image – the sunset over the ocean. And drawing inspiration from the lush landscapes and rich heritage of Ireland, the result is a unique, sensory experience that evokes the tranquility of the Irish landscape.

The male fragrance features a heady blend of bergamot, pepper, and white florals, offering a smooth, spicy aroma that evokes a sense of calm and sophistication.  Mark Walton, VOYA MD and co-founder, shared the inspiration: “I have always loved the forest as much as the ocean, so I wanted to create a fresh and earthy fragrance. There is a lot of depth in this fragrance, and the base notes become quite pronounced after the initial top notes subside.”

By contrast, the feminine fragrance combines the delicate and revitalising notes of honeysuckle, neroli, and citrus, reflecting the joyous and uplifting spirit of the Irish coast.

“Honeysuckle is often found on coastal cliffs in Ireland and is synonymous with my childhood,” VOYA’s Kira Walton said. “It was important to me to pair this with fresh citrus notes like Orange Basil and Vetiver, balanced with woody notes like Cedarwood and Gurjun Balsam. The fragrance is unashamedly sweet but uplifting, a perfect travel companion.”

Mark and Kira said that they were incredibly proud of the collaboration with Emirates. “The launch of these exclusive fragrances marks another chapter in our shared commitment to quality, luxury, and sustainability and we love knowing that a little touch of Ireland is being enjoyed all over the world every hour of every day with Emirates,” they said.

 

Fly Better: The new fragrances are available for complimentary use in Emirates Business Class and First Class washrooms, adding to the existing suite of VOYA luxury spa products beloved by Emirates customers for the last eight years.

The existing VOYA for Emirates range includes a variety of spa-quality skincare and beauty products that are available to First and Business Class customers onboard, as well as in the signature A380 aircraft Shower Spa and in Emirates’ luxury airport lounges, further enhancing the passenger experience. The range is made from sustainable organic seaweed, hand harvested from the sea beds of county Sligo.

Sustainability at the Core of the Partnership: In keeping with Emirates’ commitment to sourcing responsibly, VOYA products contain as many organic ingredients as possible and are packaged using recyclable materials. VOYA is a cruelty-free brand, opposed to the practice of animal testing in cosmetic research, and partners with Plastic Bank to support their mission to stop plastic before it enters the ocean.
