Aer Lingus Announces Partnership with Irish Boxing Icon Katie Taylor
The airline will fly Katie home for her homecoming fight at Croke Park this September.
Aer Lingus today announces Irish boxing icon Katie Taylor as its new brand ambassador, following the recent celebration of the airline’s 90th anniversary. The partnership brings together two Irish icons with a shared spirit and global ambitions – and each proudly flying the Irish flag on the world stage.

Katie will continue to fly the flag this September, when she lines out for a major homecoming fight at Croke Park, Dublin, on September 5th, and Aer Lingus will proudly fly the Bray boxer home for this hugely-anticipated bout.
For Aer Lingus, the partnership rationale is a natural one. Since 1936, when the airline first took off from Baldonnel with a single aircraft, one route and five passengers, it has been Ireland’s connection to the world – a beacon for the country and a call to home for millions.

Nine decades on, the airline carries passengers on over 100 routes from Dublin, Cork, Shannon and Ireland West Airport to Europe, the UK and North America. The airline will fly 24 direct routes from Ireland to North America in 2026, including new routes to Raleigh-Durham and Pittsburgh.
Aer Lingus has played a key role in Katie Taylor’s life since her move to the USA almost a decade ago. The Bray boxer’s career highlights include helping secure women’s boxing’s place at the London 2012 Olympics, where she took gold for Ireland that summer. She dominated amateur boxing for over a decade — five World Championship titles, six European titles and ten Irish National titles. As a professional, she has achieved one of boxing’s rarest distinctions: two-weight undisputed world champion, holding titles at lightweight and super-lightweight. Her record-breaking fights have transformed the global viewership of women’s boxing.

Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer, Aer Lingus: “We are immensely proud to be partnering with Katie Taylor. Katie is the epitome of belief and determination. She changed the sport of boxing globally and built an audience of millions for women’s boxing that simply didn’t exist before her. That’s not just a remarkable sporting career – that’s inspiration to us all that change, and progress, is possible. That spirit is one I recognise in Aer Lingus. It’s the spirit that put a small aircraft on a runway in Baldonnel in 1936 with five passengers and the belief that Irish aviation could be something – and since then, we’ve been proudly flying Ireland to the world and bringing people home for 90 years.”![]()
Also speaking about the announcement, Katie Taylor added: “Aer Lingus has been a key part of my life, but especially since I moved to the USA. Their famous shamrock has been a true symbol of home for me, and my family and friends have been able to visit me regularly thanks to this airline. This is an extremely important announcement for me, and to be partnering with such an iconic brand that represents everything about home for me is truly something special.”
The partnership will see Aer Lingus support Katie on her journey and celebrate the impact she has had on Irish sport and the global diaspora she has inspired along the way.
