International Pow Wow (IPW) took place in the host city of Washington DC where a large contingent of the Irish trade attended.

Destination DC hosted the IPW 2017 Brits & Irish Party on the outdoor roof-top terrace of The Hall of States Capital View building

The first official IPW event for the visiting media was appropriately held in the Newseum, Pennsylvania Ave whose mission is to promote, explain and defend free expression.

Washington DC host city authorities for IPW 2017 were keen to showcase much of what is on offer to visitors, so numerous tours of various places of interest were organised for visiting delegates.

"Celebrate Under the Stars” was the title of the IPW 2017 Opening Ceremony held in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.

The theme of IPW, held this year for the first time in Washington D.C. the capital city of the USA, was One Big Welcome.

While daytime at IPW is jam-packed with business appointments, meetings and functions, IPW takes on a different atmosphere in the evenings when scores of parties,  after-parties and even after the after-parties

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority was the host for the Appreciation Dinner held for a small select number of invitees, Travelbiz was the only Irish presence and was represented by Declan Mescall (Features Editor).

The IPW 2017 Closing Ceremony was held in the Nationals Park baseball stadium and was attended by over 6,000 delegates.

After IPW, numerous Fam trips around the region were organised for delegates.
