Changes in Finnair’s Booking Class Structure

Finnair is preparing to launch a new travel class - Premium Economy to our offering in 2021 and to ensure that we are able to start selling this new travel class, we need to make technical changes to our booking class structure. Therefore, four booking classes – P, T, W and R will be removed from our inventory to make room for the upcoming Premium Economy bookings. This change will take place on 1st April 2019.

Finnair opens a new route to Japan - Sapporo

As part of Finnair’s growth strategy, Finnair will open a new route for the winter 2019/2020 season to Sapporo, Japan. Finnair will fly the new route from Dec 15 to 27 March with two weekly frequencies. Sapporo is well known as a great winter and skiing destination offering stunning landscapes and fantastic winter-themed activities in a traditional Japanese setting. Sapporo will be Finnair’s fifth destination in Japan, in addition to Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Finnair is the only European airline to fly a scheduled route to Sapporo, and with five key Japanese cities in its network, it is now the largest European carrier flying to Japan.

Strong Growth in Asia

Finnair will double daily flights to Hong Kong with A350 year-round as of 2019 summer. It will have 10 weekly frequencies during summer season from 31st Mar on the Helsinki-Osaka route. It will double daily flights on the Tokyo route for the entire summer. It will add capacity on the Nagoya route by flying A350 from 05th May. It will have 42 weekly flights between Helsinki and Greater China. Finnair will increase capacity on the route to Guangzhou by flying with A350.

New A350 route to Los Angeles in 2019

Continuing with its growth strategy, Finnair announced it would begin flying to Los Angeles, California, as of next spring. Finnair will fly from Helsinki to LAX airport as of 31st March 2019. In addition, the new route will be Finnair’s first US route to be regularly operated with the new Airbus A350 aircraft. Los Angeles will be Finnair’s fifth US destination, along with New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami. The approximate flight times are expected to be 11 hours to LAX and 10 hours and 30 minutes to Helsinki.
