Air Canada Schedule

Air Canada has provided a consistent 3 day a week passenger and cargo service to Toronto since the beginning of July and has been the only provider of direct scheduled air service to Canada from Ireland in this period. Air Canada is planning to continue with this schedule through the winter. AC843 Departs Dublin on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturday and AC842 departs Toronto on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Connections via Toronto throughout Canada and the Americas are available and also connecting services via London Heathrow to other Air Canada flights from LHR to other Canadian cities.

A reminder that a number of changes in flight number are in the system already for the summer 2021 season starting 28 March so for example the Dublin Toronto route will change from the AC842/843 to the AC800/801, the Vancouver service changes to  AC804/805 and Montreal to AC802/803.

ArriveCAN app now mandatory

As of November 21, 2020, it is mandatory for all travellers returning or travelling to Canada via air to provide their information digitally through ArriveCAN before they board their flight. Travellers must provide their travel and contact information, quarantine plan and COVID-19 symptom self-assessment. Travellers must be ready to show their ArriveCAN receipt when seeking entry into Canada; a border services officer will verify that they have submitted their information digitally. Travellers who do not submit the required information digitally before boarding their flight could be subject to enforcement action, which can range from verbal warnings to $1,000 fine.

New Canada entry requirements for immediate and extended family members

While Canada’s borders remain closed for non-essential travel at present there are some existing and new exemptions to allow entry into Canada for immediate family members of Canadian Citizens and Canadian permanent residents. There are also some new exemptions for extended family members, students, work and compassionate reasons. Holders of IEC visas with a POE letter may enter and activate their IEC visa if they have a job offer in Canada for after their quarantine period in Canada ends.

Full details are contained on the Government of Canada’s website HERE.

Face coverings onboard

Air Canada passengers are required to wear a face covering onboard Air Canada flights. Passengers who are unable to wear a face covering for medical reasons need to be cleared in advance by the Air Canada medical desk and present a medical clearance form on checkin. From 15th December medical exemption travel without a face covering will require a PCR Covid 19 test within 72 hours of the flight. Full details are on the Air Canada Covid 19 update page HERE.
