Valletta, the capital of Malta, is the European Capital of Culture for 2018. Peter Vella (Director UK & Ireland Malta Tourist Office) and Catherine Tabone (Executive Director Valletta 2018 Foundation) hosted dinner for media and a select group of travel agents to outline the extensive programme of events lined up for the year. The cultural programme will consist of a collection of over 140 projects and 400 events taking place throughout 2018. Peter Vella said, “Valletta needs to be discovered and Valletta 2018 gives it an amazing opportunity to make Europe aware of its beauty. The whole city of Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage site”. Catherine Tabone said, “We are really excited to be launching an outstanding year that will be devoted to arts and culture. Valletta 2018’s cultural programme will offer plenty of opportunities for creative development and participation”.
