Topflights' VIP Fam trip to Mayrhofen - Day 3 and the last supper
14th January 2018 - 1:30pm
Shauna Kelly and Maurice Shiels (Topflight) continue their Travelbiz report from Mayrhofen on the Topflight VIP trade partners Fam trip.
Day three started much as the day before with a few people taking an earlier lift up Penken to get settled and practised for the day ahead. Lessons began with eagerness and the beginner group headed to a slightly steeper area to get their snow plough ready for the blue runs. The intermediate group headed for a nice downward slope to start working on pole planting and moved on up the mountain. Again it was a regroup for lunch and much laughter ensued. We lost two of the group for the afternoon and Angela escorted them back down to the hotel for some R&R. After lunch both groups headed to the chair lift with some nervousness on how they were going to master getting on the chairlift whilst it moved. The beginner group had it mastered pretty quickly and spent the afternoon skiing down blue slopes that they never dreamed they’d be near. The intermediate group went back up top and skied through the clouds whilst being led across jumping mounds by the ski instructor and a race to the end to regroup in the Pilzbar.
Our final night was spent in the beautiful Wirtshaus zum Griena with the tourist board, enjoying some very traditional Tyrolean fayre. As a special treat we also had the joy of listening to traditional Austrian songs performed by the Zillertal band - the Mayrhofers. The night wouldn’t be complete without a standard snowball fight on the way home!!!!
This morning started slightly later than the previous few days with the mammoth task of returning the ski gear. The group split into those who wanted to shop and those who wanted to sit back and enjoy some coffee ahead of our transfer to Munich. We met our transfer outside the hotel and he drove us swiftly to Munich City to enjoy the Christmas markets. Whilst there we spent time shopping the many stands and sampling the Gluhwein (in the interest of keeping warm of course!). Finally it was time to have our last supper together and off to Munich airport for the trip home. We may have been a little quieter on the way home but there are plenty of stories, sore cheeks and stomachs from laughing, a busy little WhatsApp group and I’m sure some bruises. We had a fabulously, funny, adventurous and busy few days in Mayrhofen with some lifelong stories and memories for all keep.
