SATOA Promoting travel to South Africa and the Indian Ocean
27th July 2018 - 5:00pm
Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz) joined lucky members of the Irish travel trade to celebrate 30 years of SATOA’s success in promoting the stunning state of South Africa, Kenya and the idyllic islands of the Indian Ocean like Mauritius and The Maldives.
The event also marked the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela, so a glass was raised in his honour. SATOA was formed in 1982 and provides a platform for members to showcase their product and naturally, help promote travel to the region.
Greeted by Tessa Botts whose motto ‘Passionately Promoting Product’, we were passionately presented to speakers and had a whistle stop tour of this world in one country - elegance and luxury of The Blue Train; marvellous properties of Tsogo Sun (one has a golf course where mud holes hide hippos and crocs – ideal for getting rid of an annoying husband!); the lure of Constantia to stay awhile in Steenberg Estate and a call to the Indian Ocean to visit Mauritius, The Maldives and even Mombasa, Kenya! Once bitten by the bug (the travel kind!) of southern Africa, you will return to the rainbow nation and peer in the window to the soul of Africa.
