Turkish Airlines/SA Tourism hosted the media and trade to a private screening of the Nelson Mandela biography, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, to mark the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. The event was made possible thanks to the South African Tourist Board and Turkish Airlines. Hasan Mutlu, Onur Gul and Alper Sean Kanburoglu from Turkish Airlines as well as Rachel Lewis of South Africa Tourism were available to answer any questions in a casual networking session at the beginning of the evening.

Hasan gave a brief presentation highlighting the move to the new Turkish Airlines state of the art hub in Istanbul, opening on the 29th October. He also mentioned how he spent some time in South Africa before and called it "the most beautiful place in the world", high praise indeed. Rachel Lewis (South Africa Tourism) echoed Hasan's statement and outlined many of the attractions that made the area so. In two weeks’ time, she will be hosting members of the Irish travel trade in South Africa for what is shaping up to be the Fam trip of a lifetime. After the movie, the names of the attendees were put in for a chance to win a spot on the Fam. Patricia Kenny (Map Travel) was the lucky lady to win. Congratulations and keep your eyes peeled to TravelBiz.ie as our very own Declan Mescall will be reporting from the Fam in two week’s time.
